    500 kg car.

Let's assume 40:60 F:R weight split (under acceleration), giving about 3000 N on the rear axle.

Let's assume some pretty sticky tyres giving 1.4 mu - that gives you a max tractive effort of 4200 N.

500 bhp is about 375 kW. 375000 ÷ 4200 = 89 m/s - the maximum speed at which that power will give you that tractive effort.

Translated, that means that this car (at max power rpm) will spin its wheels in the dry at any speed up to 200 mph, pretty much on the nose.

Are you going to fit a Chaparral-style suction fan?

That's actually insane. The OP is going to need a very light right foot.

I will NOT be riding in that.

Good on you though for thinking (then building from) such crazy thoughts.

Like above, what kit is this mate? I've seen a lot of shoddy 7 replicas, but this looks like a decent one to me. Im thinking robin hood or tiger maybe...

    This'll shift

What's the displacement of the engine now then?

I don't know any better with maths and stuff but there's no way this would spin wheels at 200mph in 6th gear or whatever, something's wrong there. The fact that it's light means it's got less holding it back from going so it'll get more acceleration than wheelspin than most.

I bet just now it barely wheelspins in third for example.

Maybe downforce needs to be added to the equation?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djsgl...eature=related

    but more mad ha

and watch this vid cos it doesnt seem to be doing too badly against a 1000bhp M5 in a car that weighs twice what your kit car weighs

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up4NNp71CQI
ps. i want a car that spins wheels in 5th in a strait line in the dry ha

Its different, you need torque to spin wheels.
Look at mental power bikes, they don't do burnouts through 7 gears...

Light weight just seems to spin wheels less in my experience, I can't think of any car that would spin wheels at 200mph. And the way power is delivered by revy engines as Kam states.

I think although brutally quick it'll be more driveable/planted than everyone thinks, if it was going to turn his car to undrivable gash he wouldn't be doing it

Looking forward to seeing how it goes , iirc a tuned (250bhp) NA busa has a recommended life of 30 race hours between rebuilds.

    Awesome project

30 race hours? Thought this is a road car though, I doubt it will be under 'race' usage all the time?

Yeah fair point, think you double or tripple it for road use Sure they last much longer though.
