Bought a 245/40/18 tyre to test fit, wanted to reduce the tyre stretch. Happy with how it looks so I’ll fit these all round. Definitely not a fan of low profile tyres anymore so a bit more sidewall isn’t an issue for me.

Here’s some pictures to show the difference

    New 245/40/18

Looks better IMO. Still too much stretch though

Thanks Jonny! Would prefer no stretch at all but 255 or 265s up front won’t fit I don’t think plus 255/40/18 will be way out for the rolling radius. 255/35/18 is the correct size but it would mean losing 10mm off the sidewall vs the 245/40/18 I’ve got on this test fit tyre

    18x10 isn’t ideal up front, 18x 9 is a better choice really.

The car is out of its extended winter break now. This weeks it’s had new oil, oil filter and fuel filter. Plus a new lambda sensor.

Yesterday I got new Goodyear asymmetric 5’s fitted, 245/40/18 all round.

Having read a bit about preload on coilovers I’ve reduced the preload all round too. I had to raise the ride height to compensate for the wider tyres for now.The change in preload plus the increase in tyre sidewall seems to have smoothed the ride out which is good!

Next up alignment and another appointment with the arch roller to fine tune the fitment as I’m getting a few minor scrapes here and there.

Here’s how it currently sits, needs a damn good wash now

Was at the famous WIM getting wheel alignment today. Got an issue sorted on the o/s rear where wheel had been erroneously set back for some reason.

But the highlight for me was reducing the negative camber on the front camber arms all the way and then adjusting the top mounts to set the camber instead. This gave extra 7mm clearance between the rim and the coilover collars, dropping me from 10mm spacers to 5mm spacers! I’m so happy because I hated that much poke!

Wheels specs are now 18x10 et 20 all round with 5mm in the front and 5mm on the back purely for looks

Here’s the numbers if anyone’s interested in seeing the fast road set up they gave me:-

And look what showed up for alignment next! Hand made aluminium body

Project Stealth Machine a.k.a The Blackbird

Today Simon from archenemy/Carson performance gave my front arches another going over with the roller and sorted out the arch liner tabs that rubbed.

Here’s how she currently sits, I need to relocate the loom and then I’ll reduce the ride height again.

Louvers are looking good, still need to wire them in though.

Yeah I really like them mate, can’t wait to get them wired in. Shame they are so rare and expensive in most cases now. That chap on eBay is still trying to sell his set for over a grand

Once you have them the rarity is a bonus 1k is daft money but they’ll likely sell eventually.

I suppose you’re right someone will want them enough, he’s not in a rush to sell they’ve been listed for almost a year now

Here’s a before and after of the front fitment. This weeks arch rolling has made quite a difference visually.

Yes! I’m running fully soft on the rears and 2 clicks from soft up front. Feels smooth and composed now. Adjusting the preload, more sidewall, alignment and dialling in the damper settings have transformed things nicely.

Just the visible change in camber must be making a big difference in the contact patch

I managed to swerve yesterday’s rain and gave the car a proper clean.
