How mad is it that the copies are now getting copied!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

I would imagine that the quality is the same as the orginal Rota that they where copied from

I doubt they are, these are slightly different so are most likely made in a different place to the rotas. There's a thread on here somewhere highlighting rota's quality controll including X-raying the rims

I'm not surprised this has happened and they look a good price so will be popular.

What makes these Rota copies and not Nismo copies?

I think you'll find these are chinese, and cost about £35 a wheel from the manufacturer Probably weigh a fair amount more than a Rota, and they're certainly not track proven by people here in the UK, or anywhere.

You'll probably find that they dont sponsor and support the drift / track scene anywhere, or listen to customers and offer 18x12s and low offsets either

I guess imitation is sincerest form of flattery...

Rotas are not replicas, they're quite similar, but not carbon copies.

These are carbon copies of Rotas

I mean really, why not copy the Nismo or any other wheel that's a similar style?

Seriously dude, as you know I have a set of Rota's, but if you are trying to sell tehm as not reps, you reeeeeeally are kidding yourself

Making 1 minor detail different to ensure you have legal feet to stand on doesn't make them not blatant rip/reps!

    XRAY here:

Rotas are made in the Rota factory in the Philippines, nowhere else.

I am not saying they're not very similar, I am just saying they haven't just taken a mould off the wheels as these people plainly have.

Testing and re-engineering goes into making a similar wheel, making a carbon copy is just that.

We see a fair amount of wheels from China with 'Made in Germany' still moulded into the back

I'm not denying that they are of a decent quality, and I'm not saying that they are made in the same mould, but saying they aren't reps is frankly, ridiculous!

Fair enough Si, I am not really argueing they, and most other manufacturers didn't copy the design, but the more important point is the engineering behind something similar that's proven, against something that's a carbon copy and really dirt cheap.

As said, never doubted the quality, otherwise I wouldn't be running them on a car my other half drives, let alone on track

That company is actually a customer of ours

They're the same one doing these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19-DOTZ-GTR-AL...item20b4057c91

Which upset me as they have forged monoblock moulded in, yet they're cast... I think they say something about being made in Japan too, which is a thousand miles or so from being true

They mainly do replica wheels, the factory is one of not that many that makes wheels in China, they churn out huge numbers of RS4 wheels and similar to meet the VAG demand to all have that wheel.
