Don't mind it - I'd prefer it if it were all one colour and didn't have welding marks all over it but then I guess I just don't "get it"

Would I prefer to have it after a decent bodyshop had finished with it? Yes

you can do this to a 240z in the US.. huge numbers went there in the 70s. they are a fairly common older car!
See I think that is rat. Its an OLD car which is old enough to rot to look like that and it pulls that look off. Unlike the horror BM from the weekend which just took it too far.

Rat cars are MINT but made to look worn out / rusty etc.
That 240z is just not finished. Leaving weld burns up a car doesn't make something rat like.

the best type of rats in the real sense are low budget in my eyes!
this is how rat scene sarted both car and bike.. its since its got big that companies/builders have started doing scene cars !
some hot rodders will argue that there are no rats as they hate the term they just say its my car at a certain stage of build or the way i want it to look right now. in 6 months it may look totally different!
Then what is the point? It's a 240z with shit bodywork and a standard interior and engine. If it looked shitty, but good (if you see what I meanobviously missing the whole point!!) it'd be cool, same if it had a shiny engine bay but crap bodywork. As it is it just looks like it's sat in a field for 5 years and then someone has bodged some plastic arches onto it.
