    Tubular Manifold review/comparison

I'm just deciding which tubular manifold to get. I wondered whether anybody has any experience in either of these:

    Apex Type 1v2 MOFO

    Apex Type 2

Or better yet, does anybody know of a website/link with a comprehensive manifold review/comparison?

Also, I notice Toyosports stainless manifolds are going A LOT cheaper on Ebay than they are from Apex. Anybody any experience with them?

    *Bump*

Would it be worth saving the money and getting a tubular manifold from Ebay?

    £95 from TuningPartsBay

    £99 from SamuraiPowerUK

    £119 from 2fast2cool

    £94 from 1stcarparts

Does anybody else have an Ebay manifold?

Remember, Jez does his own manifold that has a dyno chart to show the improvement. Not really a fan of eBay manifolds, with tubulars too prone to crack at the best of times I reckon you should stick to a known trader that you can talk to if/when it goes wrong.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. It's just that I'm a tight ****

When you say Jez does his own manifold, do you mean this one?

    Sure does look pwetty!

I like the accompanying technical info. Almost enough to make me choose that one in itself.

I can't believe how many different designs there are out there!

Put mine on in july, running stage 3a, there wasn't any sound difference (maybe just a tad louder), but there is a torque increase in the midrange and the cars seems to pull better up to redline with it
Retains original turbo position, which for me was very important as i can't afford the exhaust to sit 1/2" lower I'd imagine you'd need matching elbows and so on with some of the ebay jobs.

i think it sounds fantastic, at high revs with high boost the thing sounds nuts, spool is very quick with it on a 2871r.....

Hmm H-Dev sounds like a tempting buy. I don't think H-Dev do elbows though, but I imagine either the Apex or Tuning Development ones should fit?

i've not been sure of why everyone wraps thier manifolds? i've heard the talk of spool being minutely quicker in some cases etc (not sure about it), but i was more worried about lots of heat being retained in the head so didn't wrap it, and its never caused any problems at all with heat transfer or anything like that...i havent got any additional protection for the surrounding components either, just now and then after a blat the bonnet is quite hot above the turbo - thats it....

The h-dev one is pretty much a cheap tomei by the looks of it. Why be a brand whore the tomei, hks ones etc crack also so don't see the point in paying the money.

Im not one for making noise with an apex sensible exhaust but i have a h dev manifold and going down a hill with the revs just right (takes practice), it does a gurgle gurgle blup blup type thing thats sounds ace. Ive heard it helps other things too like mid range and stuff but thats my favourite bit about it.
It just said i needed a mani for 3a, so i got one, his seems to work

Does anybody know how the h-dev manifold is supposed to rectify valve bounce?
