    SXOC @ Nurburgring 2011 - Booking/Interest Only

Yes that's right, the SXOC are going to Mark's homeland (I'm getting a ban for that)

After the success last year of the NW group Scottie organised and the random group I organised we agreed that it would make sense for all to go together.

This first thread is set to drive initial interest, give you a heads up on planned dates and to give you some info to start saving and prepping your car. If your names down, you are not committing to anything yet.

I will be organising the pre booked ferry crossings to ensure the best deal, then the rest is down to you (see second post for budget), I expect most will be camping and enjoying a rather large camp fire but if you’re a bit gay you can book yourself into a hotel or guest house. If numbers grow I will will organise the catering, but wont start this until numbers are confirmed.

    Proposed dates for 2011
(for those who need to book it off), dates hopefully will not conflict with Japfest and/or z011 :
    leave - Thursday May 26th – Morning ferry’s (around 6am)
    return - Monday May 30th – Afternoon ferry’s (around 4pm)
These will be confirmed January 2011 once the ring calendar has been published and we know we can get track time

We will be looking at two ferry crossings, one up North and one down South and from experience I would suggest keeping conveys in small numbers (11 cars was a nightmare and really slowed the pace down, 5 on route home was much more manageable). Again we discuss this nearer the time.

    Estimated Cost see budget
£500 if your on a tight budget (this will be me)
£2,000 if your a flash git

Get your names down if you’re interested , we will not be taking deposits or asking for confirmation until January 2011!

One final thing, at the moment this year it's members only , if your not a member yet then get on it

    The interest list?
(names already interested from PM's alone)

    (deep breath)

    I'm in

A few weeks ago bought a proper funky 'never been' sticker from eBay in a Nurburgring font stylee.
Then only to find a local member not only has the same sticker, but has also rubbed out the 'never' bit. He's been.
    Can't have that

Been promising myself to go back for 5 years,so 2011 could be the year, put me down as showing interest, but i wont know my shifts etc for about another month!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

The Nurburgring is an absolute must for anyone who likes cars.

Even excluding the racetrack itself, the region is awesome, some of the best driving rounds around the mountains, lots of small villages, great food and drink etc.

We stopped in Adenau for a bite to eat, a village dissected by the Ring, and as we sat outside the pub on the tables we looked down the high street to see all the cars parked up...everything from £500 old BMWs to GT3s, Lambos etc, there where cages and semi slicks everywhere - it is total heaven for petrol heads. Also seems to be idiot free as well

There are also lots of passenger rides and people jumping in and out of cars, so if you've never been before get lots of passenger rides in as well.

Make sure you play Forza 3 or the PS3 equivalent, learn every corner on the track, and do it in a similar performance car to you own, it must be worth at least 20 to 30 laps of experience, which considering you may only get in 4 laps a days is a lot!!

The track itself is a memory that will stay with you for the rest of yoru life - it is that good - not even teh best games prepare you for the roller coaster nature. just remember to keep a good eye on your mirrors and keep right, and drive by what you can see till you are VERY sure of the sequence of corners

This is something I have wanted to do for years. I think the car and the driver are ready now!

Will be nice to go with a group of people as well.

my brother and I will be up for this in our S14... it should finally be in a spec we are happy with by then and hopefully we'll have had the spring to do airfield days to get really familiar with the car before getting on the Ring again... just the thought of it gets the adrenaline pumping- as Scottie says it's pretty life defining for a petrolhead to drive there so I really can't wait to go back after about 4 years away!
