Project 999

I thought i'd start a project thread to show the build we are just starting,

Target is to build the car to run 9.99 seconds or better 1/4 miles (hence project 999),

So, we aquired this......

We have started to strip the shell down to it's basics and will post up progress as we go on

Just out of interest dude, why aren't you continuing with the current shell? Are you just after a blank canvas to go more hardcore from the off?

Several reasons,

The current car is a bit rough underneath etc... the MOT man this year said it was starting to go in a few places,

It also means I can start now on the project and keep the current car in one piece for the last race meetings of the year,

Despite looking a bit ropey in the pitures the new shell is very low mileage (45k) and from Guernsey so pretty much rot free

Oh and yes it's going to be hardcore

Is the whole island not within spitting distance of the sea?

I know a few car dealers who get their stock from there to get low milers, I guess they dont get much snow or ice so less salt on the roads or something?

We will run this in the HKS drag series.....

It's a MSA regulated series so full saftey equipment etc... (we have run our current car in the series this year so already have an understanding of what we can do and whats required)

what class are you planning on running in john?

you've already got enough mph in your current setup if you ran a 4-link axle, slicks and a powerglide

with irs, street radials and a manual box your going to need more powerz!

whats the brief spec for the build?

My thoughts at the moment are to stay in the 'street' class and stick with the 4 cylinder engine and manual gearbox,

I imagine we will need at least 600whp, we are working on a plan for this
