He's in the spray booth and omg its a big booth indeed
Seems like such a luxury to have so much room

    Anyways pictures as always

    One tall booth

Little shot of the stuff they have in for painting etc
They have a few redbull f1 racing units and even a few FIA trucks being worked on and a couple in the other booths

So after a lovely 530 wake up after my brother had attacked me with a torch in my eyes and slapping my head to wake me

We finished the masking then gave it a final look over and quick prep of some areas

    Primered

    Final coat

its not been flatted and polished yet so still a bit "factory finish" here and there but that'll all be done in a few weeks at home

8 o'clock start tomorrow morning reftting everything ready for the drive home where all the trims will get fitted on and cleaned etc

Me too Looking rather nice there. Can't wait to see it all back together. Hopefully the bacofoil (oops, I meant lovely Renault bodywork ) will last a good few years with all that prep and restoration work

He's back home after a little trip round to see my cousins and they love it

Gave them a kick up the arse to get their tungsten one back on the road

Still a few trims to fit etc but the most has been done and we can have a rest for a week

BUT its not all good news! Like a true renault 5 it has a new problem.......

Its clutch has decided that with the newly rebuilt engine and all the new power plus a spirited drive home, the clutch didn't like it and started to slip on full throttle after 3k

    So new clutch time yay....

    thanks for the comments everyone

He is doing well. I have done 60miles+ and he hasn't broken down yet

Slight scrubbage when hitting the odd bump thats with 2 tyres and 2 people in the car. Making me regret these cheap 55 profile toyo t1rs now

Attempted to raise the back end tonight by starting on the side with no torsion bar grease cap on so thats nicely rusted solid

Going to need a big slide hammer to do this me thinks

Gearbox is out with the engine in situ.
Its tight but not hard as i've not sworn at it yet this morning.

Big thanks to mike at gt turbo spares for the uprated clutch

Bonnet and bumper off. Covers on and an no zips on trousers rule set down we like the paint work unscratched

    Gearbox removal

Found my persistant oil leak - rear main oil seal wrong way round

Found a possibly cause to my funny vibration at 50mph

Yup thats a hole in the diff and some pretty deep grooves,
The shaft bearings looks fine and theres no pieces floating in the other half of the diff...
On the hunt for a new one might try scrappys tomorrow
If no luck then i'll put it all back in and buy one from renault and do it in situ with the shaft out

So the list of things found wrong:
No roll pin in o/s driveshaft
Rear main oil seal fitted wrong way round causing my oil leak thats gone over the flywheel and clutch
Gearbox n/s diff section has a hole in it and deep grooves

The bro did some cleaning while i removed the gearbox

Now to de-grease and repaint the box silver casing and black end cover like it should be

Never been a fan of the r5 gt but blimey even I'd love that! Great work
Any spare turbo system bits give me a shout as I'm building a k10 carb turbo Micra, just got an r5 intercooler and a t3

Strut brace for a k10? I'd be very interested in that! I was going to cut up a k11 one to try get it to fit
