I did my car recently (Not S13) and it works by pressure, you should have a gauge on the bottle of gas and it tells you what the correct pressure range is so you know when to stop

you need to know the correct amount of grams of gas the system holds then put that much in via a proper aircon machine.

dont waste your time on the halfords aircon cans they dont work very well at all.

go to kwit fit or somewhere that does aircon servicing it cant really be messed up

Had it done legitimately by a mate the issue we had was that there is no indication as to how much was needed to go in

The system was completely empty so went with 600kg of has (average car being 650kg)

So far successful blowing -12 after 5min.......

    Check your antifreeze

After several members let their engine's freeze last winter, it would be embrassing for you to be the first to do it in July

if you get you hands on some refrigeration guages you'll be able to do it no problem. just set the aircon to 18 and watch on the guages what it starts evapourating to sould be roughly 10 degees lower so on the guages will be 8degrees(super heat). think the gas used in most cars is 134. Most refrigeration companys will probably be able to re gas a system for you

    just out of interest

i tried to get my 180 regassed yesterday and was told i couldnt get it done as it uses old type gas that is illegal now and the connectors on the pipes are different to what thye have nowadays.

if i was wanting to i would have to fit a new compresser to have the aircon useable again

you have the r12 gas in your system its really nasty stuff dont go breathing it its poisonous

altho you can get your system regassed buy professionals using the r12 alternative gas (not the same as the normal r134a gas) no need to change anything

Ask on the 300zx owners club who they use for aircon regassing in your area as they have the same r12 aircon gas system

There are various options to make an old R12-type system work without fully converting to the newer R134a. Speak to a specialist.

Please refrain from advising on a subject you clearly know very little about

Sounds expensive, any idea how much this would cost to do?
