I can't really comprehend all the work that went into you getting her ready for Sunday with my limited knowledge but can tell that it was a big effort! Happy for you now you have those pics and videos that should justify all the work you put in, some really nice shots there.
If you give me a bit of notice and there's some money in my bank at the time i'll definitely be following you and watching at some future drift days, need to get some experience from a safe distance

No. On Silvias the bumper lights are just indicators.

    That's what I did

I guess if the tester was feeling particularly annoying, he might fail you because the bumper sidelights were fitted but not working?

I didn't change mine until I got hold of the Silvia indicators...

ah i see what your saying Pete,

I have pre facelift S13 ones.. and rather than chop up cables im going to just extend the wires and have a sidelight in the bumper and headlights .. abit mad but hey.

Right update time.. just got on my lunch at 4pm ! so i'll write a quick update

    Right update time.

In my rush to get the car mot'd, VIC checked, insured and Taxed..within a week ! i had to get the welding done and also sort the lower ball point on the passenger side. If you remember the passenger side had the impact and the guy who did the jigging said it was knackered !

So the quest to get a ball joint ! ...my local place couldn't get one, neither could 'ASK' in kippax (near leeds) they are awesome but no joy. GSF said i could have one for £9,50 ! bargin as they are £40 on camskill. However the one from GSF is from an almera and it didn't F**king fit ! ..still got to get a refund on that

so the suspension was in bits and i decided to tackle the new hole at the back of the car (sadly i dont have a pic) the hole is pretty bad and it needs welding on three panels against the petrol tank. After much thought i decided that i'd get my dad to do it in a few weeks (he's a fabricator by trade)...but this meant not doing the MOT. I'm now going to tow the car to Mallory, however trying to get a tow car has been a nightmere because my old man is taking his landy to cornwall and my brother in law (kinda) has a towing licence but i dont and he would drive the tow car. But because he's under 23 hiring a van has been a no go !

I've now sorted it by giving my dad my car for his hols and i'll keep the landy ! ...so now im off to Mallory, as long as my car (golf) can hold all his shit for the holiday. Add this to the fact that I only just managed to get the last ticket for Mallory cos of a cancellation, Arranging to go has been more stressful than getting the car ready !

    Right onto the car.

There's a few things going on but i'll just talk about the bits with photos

I've been fettling my passenger side PS13 light this week. I got this for £5 because i was told it was fooked. Turned out a bracket was broken and it had a small hole in the lens which had chipped off inside. As a result of the hole there was lots of gunk and rubbish inside the headlight which made it all yellow.

you can see a bug inside and also lots of muck on the actual lens's themselves. I'd like this headlight to get through the MOT and because the chip is over the fog it should pass as it wont affect the beam pattern.

So i decided to take the lens off the headlight and clean it out inside. After some research i learnt that the oven is good place to soften the sealant and then pull off the lens. Turned the oven on and went back into the garage to prepare the headlight.

    Cue girlfriend

GF - matt why is the oven on
    Mat...errr no reason darling.
GF - its 9pm and we had tea two hours ago..why's it on.
mat ... i just stuck it on for something.

GF then looks at the headlight in my hand and says "hold on" .... "are you putting that thing in the oven!!!"

    Mat .. err maybe.

GF - your bloody not ! ... is it toxic ? will it smell ? you do know we've got guests around tomo that were cooking for ! i dont want the oven/house smelling of plastic and rubber...yada yada...bla bla

Mat - I duno... it will be fine, everyone does it !

needless to say i lost that argument and had to borrow a heat gun over the weekend altho i did keep threatening to use the oven for other stuff

So after some work with a heatgun and softening the lens i got it to come off.

you can see that the outer cover and internal lens is very mucky and have lots of crap on them
