    Smoking! A lot....

    Hi Guys.

Well i still seem to have a lot of smoke coming from my exhaust.
I've taken a couple of pics:

I would describe it as white smoke which if i am correct means water/coolant?
Thing is as far as i can see, the water level isn't going down and i'm not overheating...

The smoke seems to clear after any 'sprited' driving but comes back again fairly soon when left to idle. When i started the car today, there was smoke on idle and got a lot worse when revving the engine. After a quick drive it calmed down, but then reappeared after a couple of minutes left on idle...

Not really sure what to check, any ideas?

    Regards,
    Andy

    one word

    TURBO

remove filter + elephant bit to turbo.

    check for oil in there.

if oil is in there, turbo oil seals.

white smoke on idle is usual signs of turbo seals failed

other than changing the turbo (again) is there a definite way of knowing it's the turbo?

The smoke looks a tad blue (oil). Worn valve sealings?

Boost pressure keep oil inside bearing housing of the turbo. When boost is off, the pressure inside the system may cause the oil to emerge into the turbine housing where it eventually will burn and casue blueish smoke.

Same goes with a bad head gasket. There is pressure in the water system when engine is hot. When shut off or the car is driven without boost pressure, the water pressure make water come out in the cylinders and it create fog when its on again. Equal starting it up in the mornings and the entire neighbourhood have London mist Accumulated water heated up after a while when exhaust system is hot and make that water boil.

Similar when installing a large exhaust system that reduce back pressure. Nothing holding back the oil from passing through worn sealings.

Mines has that when it's cold but I don't use any coolant or oil. I just put it down to moisture in the exhaust. But if yours is doing it when warmed up on idle I would say turbo also
