    Acheiving 400hp from an SR

I'v decided to bite the bullet and go for some decent power from my S14a.

I'm aiming for around 400hp or very high 300s.

    Heres my current spec

    SR20DET, std internals
    Std T28 @1.3 bar
    HKS 555cc
    Stg 2a HDev Chip

    few other supporting mods
    Oil Cooler
    FMIC
    Alu Rad
Full 3" exhaust system (Std exhaust manifold)

I'm looking at the GT2871r 0.64 or 0.86, will these create the power?
    Do i need cams?
I would be worried about a fitting a GT30 as i want the power with as least lag as possible. I rather stretch a GT28 than jump up to the bigger turbo.
    Also would i need 740s?

I'm open to suggestion and options.

I cant afford any forged internals but ill put a metal HG in if advisable?

Also what mapping options is there custom hdev , nistune (fc tunning) ?

    cheers Rich

I would of thought that 740's and cams would be needed to make 400bhp on the 2871r. Nistune would be a good bet but jez could do a custom map on the board you have (if your stage 1/2 etc)

I thought you already were running that sort of power?

    2871 should do it.

The debate is whether you can get the .64 housing to make it to that magic 400. Some reckon it will fall a few horses short.

From what I've hear the spool up is good and power delivery smooth.

I am shooting for as close to 400 as i can with a .64, going to be running cams and some head work with a bottom end build for toughness, you will want a mhg as well.
550s aint going to be doing the business at that level, go for 740s
Go nistune for the ecu and map...

a stage 3a setup with a remap for 740cc injectors and maybe some aftermarket cams should do it on a GT2871R 0.64, could probably go for a 0.86 and get a bit more, power and lag

Nah just over the 300 mark. Low ratio diff helps.

I assume the 0.86 housing will be less laggy than the gt30? what sort of cams should i run, i have no idea about cams or where to get them?

What do the nistune do that the hdev setup cant? I dont wnat to spend cash on a nistune setup unless a cant get it from the current HDev board witha custom map.

    Cam's are not needed.

I'd go for low comp pistons, steel head gasket, bigger turbo, Apexi PFC, big exhaust, big cooler and an uprated G.box

nistune fitted gives you lots more flexibility in future and prob not much more than custom map that is tied to your mods.

brian crower cams with uprated springs is about £300 from america delivered. 264 spec.

I'm going to run the std box (i have spares lol) untill i can get a rb25 box in there. The internal will stay std too until i can afford it or it goes bang. I'm pretty sure i will fit a metal HG but again have no idea on thickness/CompRatios?

Check out polo's thread mate. He was running decent power on standard internals up until this season.

555's should just make 400 if you fit a good FPR (think mine is TOmei), if you want to save the cost of 740's.
