    ABS rotors

I've been looking at an ABS problem on my brother-in-law's Primera and, apart from it being FWD , the front hub set up looks pretty much identical to an S13.

He's having problems with the ABS chattering all the time under braking but the warning light isn't coming on.

I had a look and noticed that the rotor seems to have a gap in the teeth that looks ragged so I suspect that the rotor is broken.

Before we source a replacement and pull it all apart, can anyone confirm that the rotor should have continuous teeth and I'm not being a moron and looking at a gap in the teeth that is supposed to be there so it can tell what is a whole revolution or something ?

Also, on an S13, can you just get a rotor or is it a part of the sealed hub and we need to source a complete hub ?

    TIA.

    Jonny

Yep, common problem on Primeras apparently.
Dunno what year your mates is but:

Someone has probably wired the abs light to the oil light to pass the MOT

Yep, that's it. Does it do it when you slow right down under light braking? Trouble is the rotor is part if the bloody drive shaft (outer) I think. Well, it is on the P11-144. Not sure what model you have there.

I've had two done now and am not best pleased. Made out of plastic

That's it, Mike. The abs light is connected properly I think as he had a fault with the rear sensor and it came on.

It does seem to be on gentle braking when slowing down as Kango says.

    The car is a 2000 saloon (Mk3 I think).

    Thanks for the help.
