    1380cc ratty elf.

On christmas day my grandad passed away. He left me his old riley elf, which he loved and drove it on a road rally over to and through the isle of man.

I was very uncertain what to do with the car, i wanted it restored but not sure who i can trust with it.

Yesterday i got offered all bthe runnin gear from my mates mini. Its a 1380cc a series thats fairly quick motor. I quickly hatched the plan that i will break my unfinished swift gti engined mini. It has big brakes, collies, nice wheels ect.

The plan is too get the elf structual and mechanically sound and througgh an mot, it has a fair amount of rot now and also has pretty terrible paint. Hence the rat look part of the project. I will slowly buy new trim and replace panels as and whhen is convinient.

Iam very excited by this project because i seriously lost the mini bug for about 4 years but now i have some enthusiasm to sort something out.

I also have to many projects and this will make 2 long term projects into one shortish mission.

The elf is tax exempt as well. Mint.

Pics tonight when i can upload them.

Aw man, selling a project is never fun

If you think of a price for the engine, box, carbs and any management you were running then let me know though!

I'd be tempted to drop that off at SPL fro a bath in their acid tank. Given your attachment to the car, getting it e-coated would help keeping rust at bay for another 42 years

The elf is perfect for a rat car. Apart from the state of the floor and sills. This has made me think iam better off wacking the a series into my orange mini and do a full resto on the elf. Its what i originally intended to do anyways. When the shell is ready i can swap everything over onto it.

Need to partially strip the elf though to get an idea of the task.
