    New User

Hello, new user here. Don't actually own one but my father used to and I'm interested in buying one. He had a Nissan 200SX twin turbo in red, had a multidisk changer in the back. Don't know much apart from this, ended up getting scrapped then refurbed into a race car by someone else. Is there different types of model this could have been? The car he had is the one I want

    Hi and welcome.

Might have been a 300zx that your father had? as the 200sx is only single turbo but 300zx has a twin turbo.
    bovvered?

Nope was definitely a 200sx - just had a look at pictures of 200sx and 300zx and it was a 200sx for sure. And i'm sure it had a twin turbo.

Oh ok, well it had a turbo then. Was definitely a 200sx though - must be wrong with the twin turbo. What model would this be?

    Hi, welcome welcome welcome!

Twin cam, yes. Single turbo. Sometimes engine terminology can get confused.

Good luck finding a nice 200 - which shape are you looking for? S13/S14(a)/S15?

I'm going to guess it was an S14 as that had a cd changer and was more likely to get scrapped than an S14a.

Only reason it got scrapped was oil hadn't been changed so totally ruined engine. What's the difference with S14 and S14a?

the 240SX is the American version. It has a 2.4 litre non turbo.

The S13 is the one with pop up headlights, the one in my sig is the S14, the S14a is a front end updated version of the S14 and the S15 is the newest of the bunch.

Take a look in here http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=349593 and you'll start to figure it out

I'm 19 and currently have a 1.4 Corsa. Used to have a 1.8 Suzuki Baleno though and insurance wasn't too high. Also I am insured third party for any car right now, so I would probably keep my Corsa and buy a 200SX as a second car.

Insured on 2 cars at 19, dream on

You do realise you cant use your NCB on both

We have 19yo's paying well into 4 figures to insure these and thats with a couple of years NCB

My insurance states somewhere on it (not exactly this but cant be arsed getting it out):

"is entitled to drive any other car third party with the permission of the owner"

Get one of these, put it in my mothers name and I can drive it legally on the road. Checked this up with the insurers and its perfectly fine, my pals got the same insurance company and was out in his fathers Chrysler Crossfire a few weeks ago and he's only 17.

Think you need to check again fella.

You will find it cant be owned or kept by anyone at the same address.

It will still be a couple of thousand min to insure

I would be surprised you had that on your insurance at 19. Most insurers are removing the clause altogether let alone for people under 25

Insurers are not stupid either, nor are the police when they pull you over

How are you going to tax it if the car isn't insured? Think on
