i aint gettin no tow bar! haha . ive had a couple of options thrown at me within the last hour. either the boot mounted rack, or a friends offered me a 406 estate as a cheap runaround ( it even comes with a rack ! ) lol and then ill just insure that for 65 quid a month. just a case of keeping the two running. worst comes to worse i may just sell the 200. you have first dibs if i decide to jamie :P . and yes they are .look like 7 series wheels?

I've used one of those racks that piggy backs the spoiler. It works! Not much else to say really...

I used to kite-buggy and I used a Halfrauds Bike frame that just straps onto the back of the car..... Now, I have to admit, it was 100% safer on the back of the S13 as you could just attach it top and bottom of the hatch, but it was still useable on the S14 with one bar on the bumper and the other wedged between the bootlid and the spoiler..... BTW, Kite buggys weigh twice that of a modern mountain bike as they're all barrow wheels and stainless tubing, so you shouldn't have any worries .

This is the one I bought .

For what its worth xR33 a DH bike is around 40lbs, are kite buggys really that heavy? i always thought they had to be pretty light weight?

Just had a look, and you're right - my buggy was 20kg as standard..... Not overly aerodynamic when mounted on a bike rack though lol.

ill look into the saris i think. failing that, i may see how the car gets on in its MOT next week and possibly look to spend a bit extra on my mates old 406, see how that goes. and then keep the mileage down on the 14 and modify it slowly

thanks for the piccies ! looks secure. was it stable seeing as it doesnt have the side mount straps? or is it just clipped into the gap between the boot and rear window alone?

Look at GrahamB's second pic and you can see the 4 straps holding it in place .

Well I took it from Essex to Cornwall and back with no problems at all

It's got 3 legs one over the top the other 2 just below the boot lid. then there are 6 straps

2 over the top, 2 to the side and 2 under you shut in the boot

Saris bones are VERY good racks USed to sell a fair few when I worked in a bike shop

There's no such thing as a good, cheap bike rack tbh. They're all pricey. Every cheap one I've seen was invariably shit. If you have a cheap bike, go for it, but if you have a decent bike, it's not a risk worth taking imho.

Thule do do a kit for the roof of a 14a, but it has to use their 'short roof kit' and sort of cantilevers - it's all a bit odd.
