It's worth making up a ring/donut to allow you to press the ball joints in without damaging the powdercoat, I got my dad to turn one out of steel and then wrapped it in insulating tape to save it cutting in.
Thanks bud, I've got access to a pukka press with a pretty good selection of adaptors, hopefully be able to get them in without damaging them

Time for another update, spent a load of time under the car and a very full day at APT yesterday. I've still got a bit of work to do on the front of the car and the wheel arches but she's certainly looking a lot better and cleaner all round!

Once the Hydrate 80 had dried the next step was a two part epoxy resin from Bilt Hamber. Good stuff, it's set hard but is still a little flexible.

All ready for the aerosol under seal to go on now.

Next up was a trip to APT. As usual the lads pulled out all the stops and got the car ready in record time. You can see exactly where the problem was with the OE bushes in the subframe here

Having a pineapple ring kit was effectively masking the problem until high load then the car was shifting and getting really unsettled!

This is part way through disassembling on the ramps.

And the big pile of shiny new bits to go on...

Gary and the crew even let me sort a load of rust out under the car while it was off, it's not perfect but it's a far sight better than it was! This is with the Dynax UB on and Dynax S50 in the sills.

And so they put it all together for me and set the alignment up, it's absolutely mega. I gotta say a huge thank's to Gary, Chris and Danny at APT. We were there all day and then some so thanks for your patience.

Big thanks to Chris, Jon and Jules for the various bits.

And finally Clai for sandblasting the subframe up to factory quality finish. It all looks mega on the car!

Nice job (by ATP), quite surprised you hadn't done alignment stuff already!

It had been on the list for years mate, it was just one of those jobs that I'd put off as I may as well have done the whole lot rather than piss about just doing odd bits here and there. When I added it all up that's what put me off!

Awesome work *****. Glad to see that it all went well.

Those solid subframe bushes, how much more noise do they transfer through to the cabin?

Were you still running Oem rear arms as well prior to the refurb? As mentioned elsewhere I'm very impressed with the alignment arms and the subby etc

It was already pretty noisy mate, with the Giken box, stripped interior and that exhaust. It is certainly noisier now. There is an obvious whine from the diff and you can hear the drivetrain shunting a little if you don't match Rev/gear on downshifts. It's just made me drive a little smoother but it isworth it. I can't even begin to explain how much better the car is to drive.

Yes mate, everything was standard under there apart from ARBs and a pineapple ring kit

Ah right cool. So you are happy you went for solid mounts rather than polybush mounts? The rear end on mine is the same as yours, has the pineapple ring kit fitted so I'm sure the mounts will look the same as yours do.

Mine is doing so few miles a year mate the noise isn't an issue for the odd track day or run to LM bud. If you use it for normal road stuff you may find it a bit too agricultural.

I'll take you out for a spin next time I see you, see what you think ;-)

I couldn't really notice any extra vibration in the car but you can hear the diff, well worth the trade off to be fair

Well after the annual run down to LM I have to say it was well worth it. I developed a slight gearbox leak which I'm sorting on Wesnesday but the car was otherwise flawless and an absolute joy to drive down.

Vidal was certainly enjoying his bit. Just got a shake down at Snetterton next month to really bed it in.
