Didn't have much time on the car last night at all but did finish welding the underside on the drivers side (forgot to take a photo). and also made and welded in the reinforcement tabs.
Then I spent ages positioning and marking up the outer sill panel before finally trimming it and the quarter panel to fit. I've kept the cut line as low as possible so as not to damage the paint that will be visible above the zenki side skirts.
Was then going to do some more welding on the passenger side but ran out of gas so that put an end to the night.
Nice flush fit bud. The only advise I would give you here is to make sure the fit is not too flush. The metal seems to expand/move about when it gets hot and then you get overlap and it's a pig! Better to have a tiny bit of space. Not too much or again it will be a pig to weld Lol!

I was welding the rear part of the drivers side arch. So was sitting on the floor cross legged to be able to sit comfortably. One patch sparked out and threw weld splatter around, that bit landed on me lol.
The other half found it very funny and suggested I weld up the hole on the trousers lol.
A lot happened over the weekend.
First up, trimming the outer sills to fit just right. This is the passenger side.
The inside of the sills were rust treated and then primed.
That's the drivers side one all ready to go in place.
My best welding to date. Had a couple of tiny issues with these but overall, very happy with the end result.
It was very satisfying to get to this point.
The drivers side wasn't as pretty which is a shame but it all needs to be ground down anyway.
Making some templates.
Passenger side ground down.
Drivers side ground down as well.
Infill pieces all made up. This is for both sills and also the drivers side valance.
Yay, all the welding is now complete .
Or so I thought, remembered there was a couple of tiny dents from the camber arm's so decided now was the best time to make a notch in the seam and weld it up. So now, loads of clearance for the camber arm.
I had to open up the garage door to get as much dust out of there as possible before any painting. My god she looks very sorry for herself.
Next up, final wire wheel over the underside, then applied the Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to absolutely everything.
Whilst that was sitting for the 3 hours to do it's work, I prepped the driveshafts for paint and found this. It's cracked, so I've ordered a replacement, easier to do now than later.
All masked up ready for paint.
This gives you an idea of the lack of space I'm working in lol.
Now that looks better.
After that I started applying some seam sealer but ran out of time so will finish that tonight. Well happy now though.
You really are motoring along with this now - top job sir!
This is really shaping up now, you're definitley on the home straight
I've come to terms with the fact that mine won't be ready in time now
I have to admit buddy that's a sterling effort! I'm not sure I'd attempt to tackle all that cutting and welding so hats off to you. Need to pull my finger out as it actually looks like you're going to have your car ready for the weekender now, ha!
Thanks buddy. What's left to do to yours? Surely one final push to get it sorted will get you there.
Thanks Lee, I didn't intend on doing this much but as always it snowballs out of control lol.
Decided to cook up some crystal meth on a Monday night.
This was for applying the Stone chip. I used Upol Gravitex and applied it at 40psi to give it the nice orange peel texture so that it looks factory.
It goes everywhere and is like sticky glue.
That's the entire underside done now.
Next up will be the Gloss Black top coat.
There's all sorts left to do on mine. I might have the engine running, but there's still a bit of welding to do, rear brakes to fit, brake lines to run and bleed, fuel lines to run, exhaust to modify and fit, everything to test, then an MOT.
Yours is looking lovely now. I'll have to have a nosey at Rockingham Once you've got the top coat on, is it just re-assembly or do you have any other jobs planned?
Ah, that is quite a list. I see why you realise it won't be ready.
Thank you.
Top coat is the final main job, then it's just reassembly. No doubt a few little things will crop up in the mean time.

That's just the stone chip with the texture. Tonight I will be applying the gloss black top coat.
