Before taking the car off the road for the winter. Steve suggested doing a compression test and leak down test so we did that last night.

Compression test was done and had 140psi on all four cylinders. Pretty good.

Then onto the leak down test.

Setting No1 to top dead centre on the compression stroke.

Cylinder 1 was all good with only a 3% drop which is good.

Cylinder 2 was even better with a 2% drop.

Cylinder 3 yet again very good with a 2% drop.

and lastly, cylinder 4 gave a 2% drop as well.

So that's not bad for an engine with 135,000 miles on the clock. Won't be stripping the engine down anytime soon.

Whilst the car went up on the ramp, we looked at the manifold and spotted the crack. Can't wait to get the replacement.

Next up is to try a coil pack loom and an ignition amplifier to try and cure the miss fire on idle.

Everyone loves a gash right below their flange .

As per the PM, it's a Tial V-band wastegate .

Warby is making progress on the manifold. Looking awesome so far.

He's making it equal length and also focusing on making it easier to fit and remove if needs be as the current manifold is a bit of a pain on a couple of the nuts to remove it.

He was confusing the hell out of me with all this Warby talk. I assumed it was a private joke or his pet name for you or something, ha!

This weekend was the time to start pulling the car apart to do all the little jobs I've got planned for it. I'm still trying to clear the garage so it won't be long until the car is fully in and the door is shut so I can work on it during the colder months. Garage roof will be insulated soon

One of the reasons that I've been pushed into doing the winter overhaul is a blow from the exhaust manifold and here's what happens if you try to move the turbo..............it moves a fair amount lol.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXNKL...ature=youtu.be

After removing everything it broke in two when I tried to remove it from the engine bay. That might explain the blow lol.

Nice and thick metal used in the original manifold .

So that's the turbo all removed.

Still more to pull out of the bay though.

The parts are starting to stack up.

Oil catch can was pulled out of the way as well.

My old seat will be going up for sale soon as it's just not needed anymore.

Also, this old fan cowling will be going up for sale as well although it's a little damaged where I had to cut it to fit the intercooler pipework.

Rad hoses are another thing that will be going up for sale soon, these are perfect but I want to go for something slightly different.

Here's some of the rust that needs to be sorted. It's going to be fun. Also, the intercooler, you guessed it, is going to be up for sale as well.

Some cleaning, sanding, painting and polishing needed in this bay.

and here's how the engine bay is sitting now. Will do a little more throughout the week to get off all the bits I want off.

Next up is the update from Wardy about the manifold . It's really taking shape now and I can't wait for it to be finished . I'll let the photo's do the talking.

Looking good pal, I'm still shocked at the quality of the greddy manifold. EBay manifolds are built better,

You got anymore plans for it over the winter ?

Maybe I should have just bought an ebay one rather than getting you to make me one .

I do have a few plans in the pipeline but I'm keeping them a little hush for the moment as funds are really tight so might not be able to afford them all.
