How much to fit an exhaust and downpipe?

Roughly how much is it to get an exhaust and downpipe fitted at a garage. I got quoted 250! from a garage that's on here APT Norwich

Surely it's a couple of hours work 100 tops?

Is that with them supplying the exhaust as well as seems a bit steep. If its a decent exhaust which wouldnt need modifying to get to fit then can fit yourself easy. A bit tight if on axel stands but only a few hours work if that. Most garages charge about £40 an hour and on a lift it would probably take them about an hour.

£250 if they were doing the elbow too perhaps lol. If I were you, I'd just do it myself . Go into quick fit (or your nearest exhaust place), slip them £20 and ask them to undo the 3 nuts on the elbow>downpipe, then lightly tighten them back up with a socket to get you home, and that should be the worst of the job done .

from the turbo elbow (downpipe) and decat/cat back - its 2 hours work with plenty brew breaks so max of £100.

go to a local back street garage and get them to do it or do it yourself

i got quoted £60 years ago and decided to put that £60 towards a £100 halfords 150pc tool kit and did it myself in under an hour. you need a bloody long extension bar do get to the downpipe from the engine bay, otherwise it's a very easy job

Im guessing APT are very busy and don't have time to get another car in and lose a few hours on it, it's common in all trades to do this when busy it saves turning work down

Get your old clothes on pop down halfords and pick a jack and some axle stands up and DIY

Should take no more than 1Hr to fit and have a cuppa

If you live in a Cul-de-sac like me, park the car with OS wheels up on the curb, and that gives you an extra 3-4 inches underneath the car to play with - just enough for my 'racing snake' figure .
