Ok, this is the big news. Christines new heart is ready for install.

The dotted line are previous power and torque figures. The solid lines are the new figures. Look at that torque increase!

Nice jump in power. Have you gone up in CI or something?

    PS - Same carb as my Dad's - Proform 950cfm isn't it?

Was just under 6 litres, now 6.7.

The original block has been replaced with a mega strong Dart race unit with a bigger bore than the previous block. It comes with angled 4 bolt steel caps as standard.

We have installed a stroker crank. The cam has been replaced with a wilder one. The rockers have been changed for steel items with a girdle to further strengthen the assembly. The alternator has been replaced with a much higher output item thats now putting out over 30 amps at idle. The old race unit didnt put anything significant out until 2k rpm.

Lots of changes and now, ahahahhahhahhahhahahah, 598bhp on pump fuel!!!! 551lb/ft!!!

With the other upgrades we are introducing to the car we should, touch wood, have a nails, reliable, mega powered, lightweight, rear wheel drive scare monster

One serious concern is what the torque will do the the shell. We havent done a huge amount to stiffen it up bar the cage. That might bite me on the ass!

Good to see its got 4 bolt mains, kind of essential at that power. Nice increase of power especially as it's a uniform increase over the whole rev range. That will be very noticeable.

PS - Talk in Cubic inches man!

We had four bolt mains before but not the angled type and only cast caps, not steel.

Oh yes, that extra 75lb.ft EVERYWHERE will be hugely noticable! The car was too fast for me at the Ring, it was scary when going for a real hard charging lap. Ive never been scared in car before but thats was fooking quick. 7.50 something lap in significant traffic the day after the car came 3rd at Santa Pod in EDC! Touching the limiter in 5th down a couple of the hills there. Thats a genuine 150+mph approaching off camber corners. Scary stuff.

I imagine it will now be scary on multiple UK tracks as well.

Nope, no seam welding, bolt in cage. Might cause some issues, we will see

£1179, they can be supplied to meet individual customers needs, thats not a problem. We are running them on our Monster S14 as well Norris Designs ran them on his race winning Evo 3 and liked them so much that he has just installed them on his green short wheel base 900bhp Evo 9.

Duncan Graham, 2009 Time Attack Champion, is also running them

I'm running them too - they seem great so far, although I've not used them on maximum attack yet (only a few laps round Combe and at Bedford where is was slippery and I didn't have a clue where I was going)

Nice engine you've got there Bren

I remember Gander's 509hp RB26 180SX being pulled apart without a cage but a full seam welding... I think the cage he fitted cured it mostly, but the abuse you're going to give it isn't going to give it an easy time!

I am now concerned about my car too It's going to need strenthening.

hard used track cars, especially those with big torque, often suffer from the bodyshells going 'soggy' after a few years, seam welding helps of course as does a cage. For a roadie where the actual percentage of its life used at 'max attack' is pretty small and the grip on raod tyres and shi**y UK roads is limited i doubt it would be a major concern, but decent tyres on track will often show up problems look for cracks around spot welds, where roof meets pillars, inner wings etc.

i reckon when Bren dumps the clutch with that motor, itll rip the diff out of its mounts and spin the back axle like a propeller

shell might be fine anyway, the japs do sort of over-engineer stuff anyway, not like a skylines a 120Y shell

That thing sounds ridiculous, the rate at which it revs is nuts.
Fair play for hitting the limiter in 5th round the Ring

I chickened out at a speedo 150mph after Aremburg

One of the most inpressive things is the way it revs and the speed at which the revs drop. No flywheel will do that for you! Its amazing that it speeds up and slows down so quickly when you consider the mass of the bits that are moving around inside.
