I have to say I'm really impressed with the combination of the pillowballed Tein Superstreets and Whiteline ARB's. I've got both front and rear ARB's set to the firmest now, the preload on the superstreets set to the Tein recommended 25mm from the bottom of the thread to the bottom of the adjusting rings and the damping slightly softer than half way. And in this dry one minute, sopping wet the next weather we have at the moment the grip and feedback is very very good. The understeer in the wet is gone and the balance is really good, got a really good feel for what the car is doing and can let the back go lose on corner exit, knowing what is going on and how much right foot the rear tyres can take.
Still got to sort out my crap MPG though
Certainly is a good looking car, I've always liked the way SW20s sit.
Any pictures of it and your Tuscan together? Would make for an interesting comparison.
Not bad for a 15 year old, 115,000mile 2.0L non-turbo with just an intake and exhaust
Nice! Although the second pic looks like it has a milk crate on the roof
Sweet looking car, I'm looking for a black one.
I didn't realise it was the non-turbo one fella, so that sounds like a healthy output
Excuse my rather sarcastic reply by text last night
hehe, i did the sarcastic text reply thing last night too! sorry!
mine may have involved comments about scissors and hairstyling products...
Been off work this week, so had a chance to get some bits done on the MR-2.
Firstly I've replaced the exhaust manifold as two of the three downpipe studs were missing. One of the stud holes did have enough thread to hold a bolt, but the other one as missing totally. It wasn't blowing, but I wanted it to be right, so I got hold of a used manifold, fitted new studs and also tidied the gas flow into the manifold at the head end with a dremel (there was a slight lip at the end of the tubular pipe inside the cast flange). I was considering getting a stainless manifold made, until I saw the standard one. Ok it's not stainless, but I doubt I could better it performance wise, it's a really nicely designed manifold I also changed the downpipe because mine had a small hole in it that was sealed with exhaust paste and a tango can So now the exhaust is all sealed and sorted
Then came the fun bit of fitting the TEIN EDFC wish has been sitting in a box since November Part of the reason, other than finding the time, I hadn't fitted it was because I couldn't decide where to but the control box. I'm a fussy fecker, and didn't want it obviously on display such as on the dash, but I didn't want it hidden away out of easy reach. I also wanted it to look as factory fitted as possible. I couldn't put it in the unused half of the double din hole, as I have a double din satnav/dvd. So with a bit of thought, I removed the foglight switches and the headlamp height control, cut the three switch holes into a hole big enough to accept the EDFC and made a blanking plate to cover the hole left at the top. Then with the aid of some metal strips and hotglue, held the EDFC in place
Wiring was easy, with a unused grommet in the front firewall, and one either side in the rear into the engine bay
My missus has already told me off for playing with it because the noise the motors make is cool
Also somehow I achieved 770mph according to the Satnav

Did have a bit of brain fade this weel and was wondering why the ride was smoother on 'softer' damping than 'hard'. Then realised I'd forgotten that '0' in the EDFC is hard and '16' is soft
Bit off topic, Aint the turbo easy to get power out of?
350bhp is easy apparently?
I have fancied a turbo for a while now.
You've not got your EDFC in 32 step mode Make it so
The EDFC looks as if it was there all along, good job mate. Did you relocate the fog switch and headlamp control or leave them off?
Jut
Really liking the MR2 update on this. ALways tinkered on having one of these. Appreciate your forward thinking on balance of the MR2 N/A setup regarding handling/power and fun on the limit, rather than all turbo balls out power.
I changed it very soon after those pics were taken
Cheers, I did want it to look as 'ment to be there' as possible.
At the moment they are just behind the dash panel. I will either find somewhere for the foglight switches to go (front and rear) or I do have a few small round rocker switches in my toolbox which I could easily slip in somewhere nice and discreet. The tell-tales are on the instrument cluster so they don't need lights in the switches for the MOT
Yeah I can see that having a lot more power would upset the balance of the car and make it less fun to drive hard
