A little more of the strip down process done today but these short days are seriously hampering productivity

    Started with a dashboard in

    bottom half missing

    and then the top

I have a few days off next week so will take the rest of the interior out hopefully make a start taking the wiring out.

Well i've had a few days off this last week and i have made concerted effort to get the truck stripped

First job was to get the rest of the cabin heater boxes out from behind the dash

and disconnect the loom from the engine/wings etc under the bonnet so the whole loom can come out of the cab

Now came the fun part that i've been looking forward to

Seeing as the custom chassis/suspension and bodydrop will put my wheel way further up into the wheel arch the inner arch was in the way.... it needed to come out

The wheel will need clearance to about where the red line is so quite a lot had to go in fact it was easier to just slice up where the black lines are and chop the front panel off entirely. It's not to much of an issue as a length of box section will be welded in place of it to tie the cab to the front panel and to give the wings somewhere to bolt to.

Half an hour later and this.....

    became this....

I also finished taking everything out from inside the cab so it's now totally bare but it was dark so i don't have a satisfying pic to look at

So the bed is ready to come off the chassis and so is the cab now..... looks like i need a small SXOC meet at my house very shortly to lift them off

    Lol

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

    Small update for you all.....

Thanks to wonder that is the we have managed to get the body off the chassis! Jim (JDK) and the man mountain that is Damo (DLowe) agreed to lend me a hand this afternoon as way of having our monthly meet.

Things didn't quite go according to plans though. I made some A frames this morning to stand the bed on once removed and they looked ace.... so the lads turn up and we have a look round at where things will be going and i decide to adjust the position of one of the frames i had made. Now this involves stepping down a small step onto some paving slabs, easy you imagine, except i find the only slab with a missing corner and neatly fit my toes straight in the hole....... my ankle really hurts.

Anyway, soldier on and all that, we lifted the bed off the chassis and walked it around the back of the house with me and Jim lifting the front corners and Damo lifting the whole of the back on his own We put it on the frames and stood back to ponder....

You'll notice that it's not on any frames in the pic you see, what we were pondering was whether the frames would take the strain. The weight wasn't a problem but more the rickety nature of the things in a left-right axis. So it turns out Issac Newton was right and the bed wanted to be on the floor for now Luckily no damage done so I'll lift it up off the floor next week when i can get some light.

Next we had to take the cab off and place it on some pallets. This went surprisingly well and took no time at all

The doors are back on again and everything is covered with tarporlins to attempt to keep some of the weather out. They will have to sit where they are until Paul is ready for them and, in the mean time, i have a bare chassis to do something with.

Now do i try and shift it in bits or buy the D21 4x4 that's on ebay with no engine and a dodgy gearbox for cheap You see i could put my engine and box in and sell it on for a small profit i hope. I'd imagine the later would be the quickest way to move it on but requires me to fetch it from Bedford somehow.

I also took the time to clean my bench as it's been looking messy recently and i kept saying to myself i should clean it... so i did

And remember kids always protect your eyes when doing any grinding
