Nick, I'm sure it goes without saying, but I want the first passenger ride in this beast once it's complete

Thanks. It's the worlds first garden city. Milton Keynes is based on the garden city design, but they got carried away with the roundabout thing. lol.

No idea what the longabout is all about. Kennedy Gardens, or Broadway Gardens as it's now called is the bit in the middle where the summer fates etc are held, so maybe it's just a community thing.

The first roundabout is a few streets off the longabout nearer the posh side of town. It's small and has crap sharp bends, but not bad for a first attempt I guess

I think it's the first roundabout in brittain, rather than the world.

Edit: Wiki says: During January 2005 "Sollershott Circus" (to give it its formal name) in Letchworth Garden City was recognised as having the first roundabout on a public road in the United Kingdom, dating from circa 1909 (there are two signs on the roundabout saying "UK's First Roundabout Built circa 1909"). This was probably inspired by the traffic system at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, a city which was familiar to Parker and Unwin.

When first built traffic could circulate around the central island in both directions. The more familiar rules of the road for roundabouts were not adopted until the 1920s. Roundabouts remain a feature of the Garden City's road network, which has only one set of true traffic lights (discounting those on pedestrian crossings).

Thats the end of my history lesson

Not much to report today but I have done some battling with my angle grinder

I have made a start to taking the bed off the chassis by undoing the nuts that hold it on which sounds easy but is often not the case! Four of the nuts came off with ease but the two rearmost nuts would only come off with the aid of the grinder. It was whilst ducking under the bed that i realised the towbar was pissing me off so this went too. One of the remaining nuts rounded so needed a smaller socket banging on but the last one was a right swine. First of all i couldn't get to the nut as someone had done some bed mount strengthening and had covered it so out with the grinder to remove these. Then the bolt head on top started to turn and access to this is very restricted but persistence paid off and i managed to wedge it enough to undo the nut hew:

At this point it went dark so i gave up but everything is loose and ready to come off
