    lost drive...

Hi all I wonder what you think about this problem. The other day I was on a main road near my house at some traffic lights. The lights changed and I pulled away. Just as my revs got up into the full boost area I suddenly lost drive. The engine still revs fine etc but I have no drive. I got the car home and now I'm wondering whats gone wrong. It felt like something just snapped or broke off. When I start the car it starts just fine and I have 'normal' feel to the clutch pedal and the gearbox feels 'normal' too. When I let the clutch out however all I get is a metallic rubbing sound but no actual drive. It does this no matter which gear I choose. It's like the car has lost it's connection from engine to gearbox. The car is running around 360bhp and has been in this current state of tune for a couple of years now. If anyone has any ideas or advice I would be very grateful.
    what do you reckon?
    cheers, Phil

yep fooked box - 360bhp you are pushing the std box

could be input or output - I think there is a way of telling by putting it in one of the gears which is on the lay - but don't quote me on this

It would also just be a woodruff key - eitherway box off and rebuild or new box.

If the woodruff key had failed you would still get 4th

    clutch?

it does sound like you will need to drop the box for further investigation.

get someone to sit in and put it in gear and "drive" and see if the prop is spinning, that will narrow it down to gearbox end or diff end

Same as mine, gearbox output shaft, you can select all gears as normal but when you release the clutch its as if its in neutral.
