This stage of the proccess Im doing at work so Im going in an hour early to work on it and doing a bit each day during my break times. Ill be doing the shell restoration at work but when it comes to stripping my red s14 and rebuilding it all on the new shell that will be done at my parents place in thier garage. Thats when the project will slow down.

Here is some pics of yesterdays and todays progress.

Firstly I got the doors off yesterday before work then got the dash support bar out.

Then this morning before work I got this lot out,

    Along with,

So now the interior looks like this, Minus the carpet cos I got that out too, which showed that the inner sill are showing sings of surface rust(dont have any pics). I recon this is due to the holes in the sills for the factery fit skirts. Im thinking that they allow moisture in so the sills are rusting from the inside out. Ill prob end up cutting the sills to treat the rust and then weld new metal where needed.

Then I spun the shell over on its side to so it takes up less room in the factory at night and the yard during the day.

This gave me a good chance to inspect the rust underneath properly. Its not too bad realy, no holes, but it has started to go in the usual places. This seems to be the worst of it:-

Like I say it seems to be surface rust only and I havent found any thing I wasnt expecting which is good.

At lunch I started on the engine bay removing any brackets and trying to sus out how the hell all the wiring is going to come out. So at the end of lunch the engine bay looked like this,

Thats it now until work on monday, will give me the chance to make up a shopping list of derusting stuff and anti rust primers ect for when the shell is bare. Thats when the hard work will begin.

No, Im going to get it back to good metal with various wire brushes in a drill and various attatchments in an angle grinder then treated with DEOX-GEL before painting with Electrox primer and stonechip... Im on a tight budget so if it can be done by me for as little expense as pos then that is how it will be done. If metal needs to be cut out and replaced then thats no problem cos Im a fabricator and can get all my materials ect free of charge.
