    Is this guy a moron?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...st/8271672.stm

It's kind of mean but also funny as fcuk!! Some more serious points that struck me though:

So maybe he should have expected to find a stray sheep and slowed down a bit? Are you not meant to drive at a speed that allows you to stop in the distance you can see ahead? Going by his injuries I don't think he was tootling along at 50mph. I think the fcuker should have to pay for a new sheep as well.

Pisses me off round here too.
You get bikes shooting past you at a ton plus over the Moors and wonder why there's sheep in the way
It's grazing land, They aren't strays.
Then they crash and the papers are full of 'They were a wonderful person who always stuck to the speed limit' As if.
**** em' If they wanna ride like twats, They have to be prepared to pay the ultimate price.
    IMO

Can't really understand how it made the news because it's, err, not really news?

Not sure a) what he's so surprised about or b) what's different from the norm here that it makes news?!

Based Mrs. Bikerpersons comments - twat
If I was tanking it across Dartmoor and hit a sheep/pony I'd accept I was totally to blaim (Given the blanket 40mph speed limit especially ).

My only possible arguement would be that they shouldn't have built such fun roads up on the moors

It's one of the current journalistic ****er targets. Any opportunity to flame a local government department means it automatically has to be included in the news, even if it's not really news.

The rubbish collectors left a can of redbull in my bin. I'm appalled that they missed such an obvious piece of rubbish. It now means I have less space to put my rubbish in and so I'm going to write a letter in to the Daily Mail complaining. I'll send a photo of the inside of the rubbish bin too.

Indeed. We did a Dartmoor run a while ago and mostly stuck to the limits. I soooo wanted to plant it though but resisted. Been overtaken whilst crossing the moors by both bikes and cars doing stupid speeds.

There is - they are called "cattle grids". Never seen them before? And why stop them crossing the road? Bloody open land - any idea how much it would cost to fence one of these places?!

Not surprised he's trying to wiggle out of it - he's named after an eel!!!

as the accident wasnt my fault i just passed it all on to the other guys insurance.

i did phone the dept's involded and they said as it was a RTA there was a person to blame, and as it was my car physically causing the damage and i was the person need the firemen and ambulance it was me who got billed

Of course, everyone's forgotten the sheep, haven't they. What were it's injuries and how is it's family coping? Our dismal legal and compensation system isn't setup to help these helpless innocents...

    must've been going some.

Have you ever felt a sheep? they're quite soft

same problem down here in the New Forest (but ponies and cattle), blanket 40mph limit on all unfenced roads - simple solution only drive as fast as you can see.

You don't really have to be going that fast to get those sort of injuries on a bike
