    That'll do

Load balanced with a Be connection and some funky routing

No more fecking up online gaming within the house whilst downloading at a bijillion Peta-bytes a second

    Soo geeky its

    I hate you.

I had a pretty steady 1.7Mb/s until a couple of weeks ago when Sky made "improvements" on my line

Do you live on the exchange or something?

Mine is pretty poor and playing online game is a pain.

Sky's rubbish, I'm with O2 now and I'm getting nearly double what sky could offer on the same line!
It's totally stable and the customer support ain't in India

Pretty healthy upload speed for an ADSL line on the outskirts of a City

Good ping for me there. It's a pretty stable connection with cable, it has to be said. Shame the V+ box is weaker than a six year old Forest Gump without his leg manacles.

Noticing good upload speeds with BE there.

Winds me up as the speeds keep going up and up and up in built up areas, and yet they fail to even provide 'average' broadband to everyone first

my girlfriends internet at her halls of residence last year, was so fast i could download full bluray quality movies in about 2/3 minutes lol and the ping i got was about 6 most of the time. in fact it was so low, i was often accused of masking my ping whilst playing counterstrike

Uni speeds are often very good our old uni halls were limited by the switches offering 10mb only, so we all maxed out constantly at just over 1mb/sec. This was 2003 though = very quick

I was sat eating lunch yesterday and got 2.6mb/sec download speed through the uni's network on my wireless laptop in a room full of people

Oh, and home computer check out that ping!

Pretty consistent with only latency issues over distance.

ouch dude lol and yeah, the speeds i got at her place were on wireless too i think she's paid for some uber fibre optic broadband for the house she's in this year its quite close to the exchange thing or whatever it is, so im hoping it'll be good too not that i go see my girlfriend and play coutnerstrike all the time

Not bad, can't remember what I'm supposed to have though

for people who don't have great speeds, there's a setting in windows xp that hogs 20% of your bandwidth for windows use (updates and what not) if you change this setting it increases your speed a bit or least it did on mine it was around 10 meg a second, then I changed it and it jumped to almost 12.

I'll post up the instructions if you like, only takes a minute and as long as you know what you're doing is safe too
