I think the only difference on ECU's is if their preface lift or facelift

Does that mean I couldn't use a prefacelift ecu in my facelift? Can an auto ecu be used in a manual?

Only difference between pre- and post-facelift is that the post-facelift has a heater for the lambda sensor and the pre- doesn't. Pre-facelift will still use a lambda if it's connected though.
