Good job came with a new engine (was going to ask you about that), as it seems that the guy who had it before had some problems with the last 'rebuilt' one, using a lot of oil and a slight knock issue.

Has it been supplied with a spare engine then, or that one being rebuilt?

Loving the mk2.5 interior, wonder how much hassle it is to fit.
The knocking engine is being extracted on Weds, then the builders are collecting it on Thurs, new one should be with me by Tues the following week to be installed. I have done a lot of research on the company and it seems like it was just one of those things.

Cool, sounds like the guy was a bit of an idiot though, he'd had knock issues before but not fitted a knock meter.

Overheating on track, getting oil pressure issues, and only stops after he can hear det through his helmet!! lol!

Sounds like a decent deal on the old engine

Well, he thought it was bottom end, and its definately in the head , and I had a knock meter with the car, albeit unfitted. Will be better than new in no time. Obv purchase price reflected all you have mentioned and the hassle I now have swapping the lumps over etc.

That mod is the whole reason I bought it man. The head unit is a Sat Nav one, and needs it to get the signal

Ahh, so you bought Gary's old car

Before you track it - get an oil cooler fitted and fit a knock sensor - I'm pretty sure oil temps on track killed the last engine...

I've been on a track with Gary when he owned it - mine is quite a bit faster ;P

mk2 dash into a mk1 is a bit of an effort - more time consuming than anything else though

Was that before the pulley changes and the intercooler etc?

I will be very careful on track as alwys, but already have the knock sensor and cooler, just no piping. Hoping Hose Solutions can sort me out. If not, do you know where I can source a good cooler kit and I will just sell the one I have?

    Cheers jon!

Err, it was a while back - can't remember which trackday it was, one of the ones at abingdon He said it was about 190odd BHP at the time It's only a dinky JR M45 on that, so it'll be maxing out at about 220-230BHP or so, so I'll still 'ave it (until the corners anyway)

Most of the cooler kits I've seen are a bit crap - the one MX5 parts sells is pretty much the same as the DW one, same stupidly long hoses etc...

If you have a cooler, I'd find somewhere sensible to put it (wheelarch + ducting and stone protection, behind the rad etc), then either make your own hoses or measure well and get someone like HS or merlin to make you some up. You may also be pushing the rad a bit hard - even standard they can get a bit hot on the track, so it may be worth looking at an ebay alloy rad, make sure you have the undertray on, and look at ducting the nose of the car to make sure all the air goes through the rad, not round it

    pay heed to Phil's suggestions

Oh - other alternative cooler wise is to look at a Honda Civic rad (similar height, but narrower), with a vertical oil cooler next to it in the space freed up. Probably a more sensible option if you are handy and going to change the rad anyway :

OMFG, An Mx5, r888's, a big fat supercharger and some country lanes

I'm currently running in the engine, so only rev'ingup to about 5k, but even with that short rev range, its incredible.

It feels like I'm driving a V8, honestly its grunty and instant, really makes it a great town drive as well as having lots of go.

It will be on the rollers if it gets 500 fault free miles under its belt which shouldnt take too long.

Have you ever driven one Si? Welcome to a go next time we are at the same place, I still wanna skid the rex
