Hesitation and what sounds like misfire

This morning when i was on the motorway everything was fine for the first few miles the car was boosting fine. then after about 5 miles i decided to make an over take, i put the foot down and i heard what sounded like traction control kicking in and the car really struggled to get over 0.28bar of boost. turned the engine off at the next set of lights and it was still the same.

I had a look in the engine bay when i got to work and nothing is loose.

Coil packs or a boost leak are the first things to check
The former by swapping with a known good set, the latter by pressurising the intake

Is there a method to pressurise the intake at home?

Yup, block it at the turbo outlet, and the TB, and DV if you have one, then block off the idle take off, and pressurise via a handy nipple somewhere.

    Knock yourself out.
You'll need to find something to block the TB, turbo end outlet, and DV though.

i was out this afternoon in the car, it will not boost above .70bar if the duty is turned right down to 45%.
Engine sounds fine at idle and off boost, as soon as you ask it to go fast i get a weird sound "bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and the revs climb very slowly.

    plugs, coil or boost.

coils would probably be the same through the rev band so prob not that.

plugs can cause the above i would check them first to be honest. check GAP too.

Boost car will run ok when off boost you'll lose loads of fuel car will be more thristy than usual and will struggle to climb the revs, it can splutter too.

thats the first 3 i'd check

boost controller issue?, solenoid working?. (Apexi chatters, not sure what your running). Turn it off if possible, run on actuator alone.
Also check your actuator arm is still connected to the wastegate

My money is on coil pack I would of thought that a boost leak, bad enough to cause these issues would of been sending loads of black smoke out of the exhaust

Ok, problem solved. Kieren_E1 had a spare set of coil packs we could try in the car and its now running like a dream.

Thanks to Davie for helping me with the car tonight, Kieren for the coil packs and Kev for his piss taking
