Did a bit of sound deadening today using roof flashing tape. It's not perfect but it's helped a lot I plan on getting some more and giving the whole rear end a couple of layers to see if I get the noise down a little more

    Before

    After

The voids are also now packed with loft insulation as well

I also managed to stop an annoying rattle/vibration through the car that I've had since fitting my new down pipe by removing the heat sheild for the cat. Been a productive day by my standards

    Cheers ben

Forgot to menion above but I've also raised my boost to just shy of 1.4 bar. A bit more tweaking and it should be there or there abouts

I wouldn't say mine is quiet now but it's much improved. It was crazy loud inside before

That would make a difference as would tyre choice The toyo's I run now don't only grip better than the 452's I had before but also produce less road noise

Tempting prospect. Don't like the idea of any moisture getting in that lot though

Took the car out today to fiddle with the gizzmo a little to see if I could improve on things a little. I now seem to have either blown the tubby gasket or cracked the manifold There is an outside chance the downpipe has come a little loose as that was off for my recent clutch swap but I'm not hopefull
I'm not quite sure what caused this issue as I haven't hit anything with the downpipe/exhaust which is the most common cause

What make downpipe do you have? I know tobrien1 had issues with his Japspeed superlow one constantly coming loose due to fitment issues...

I happen to have the japspeed superlow down pipe. Wih any luck that's all it is. The system has picked up a rattle at the same time so fingers crossed it's just that

Funnily enough you mention a rattle, his was hitting he underside of the car as it tucked up too high above the chassis rails!! My bet would be the rattle has worked elbow to downpipe bolts loose!

The grille is a jdm kouki grille

The rattle happened as the exhaust blow started I did have a rattle before but it was different and cause by the old cat heat shield which has since been removed I'll have a look when the weather is a bit cooler, no chance i'm working on it in a heat wave

    F*$#ing turbo gasktets!!!

Anyone know if you can get a nut on the front left stud on the turbo in situ without removing the whole lot?

To answer my own question you can get a nut on to the most awkward stud on the turbo without too much trouble. That would be fine if my cocking stud hadn't fallen out as well. I'm getting increasingly fed up with this car now. Just want the damn thing to work properly

I hear you. And feel your pain TBH, I'm taking mine out and welding the f*ckers together. And cutting a bit of flexi into the downpipe. Should help.

My current issue is those leaky front shocks though Clonk has gotten worse so I need replacements asap and as reasonably priced as poss. May take the opportunity to get coilovers though. They have been on the cards for some time.

All of the other studs had been welded in so are going nowhere. I'm hopeing the gasket will be reuseable seeing as i've only driven ~10 miles with the blow. I have ordered another gasket to be on the safe side though.

Sorry to hear about the s-tunes mate but i'm not shocked after seeing them the other week
