Those pipes have cleaned up well.
You should notice a difference going from a type 2 to a type 1. I did when I made that change.

Looks good! Is it a posh branded cooler?
Better response, less lag, slightly higher boost iirc too.

I think I have a 4" holesaw if you need one chris?

It's just an apex type 1 which cropped up at a reasonable price. Cheers for the offer Jon but I'll most likely buy some hole saws so I have them in the future if needed.

Chris, what you doing for a battery? I could never be ar5ed to relocate it.

I'm going to go for a smaller battery rotated 90 degrees. Not a fan of relocating either.

Trickle charger! My S14 is always hooked up to one, and has never failed to start since (despite weeks/months of inactivity). This is the one I use, and it's awesome:

I dont think Chris has the luxury of plugging the car into the mains.
I don't have power in the garage unfortunately. The smaller battery shouldn't be too bad hopefully. It's a full size battery only designed for a smaller car

Why do people make the pipe runs as short as possible? Changing from longer, smaller pipework to shorter bigger pipework and increasing the core size/galleries in the core is going to reduce pressure. It was about 7 years ago so i have no idea what the difference was now.

I wouldn't say you have anything to worry about, my micra battery has been fine in mine for years *touches wood* with occasionally use. I just disconnect the battery, only annoying thing is having to re-set the radio everytime I drive it...
Why people do a lot of things is beyond me. But unless someone tells me that the turbo spooled up 200 revs quicker with proof of it being the intercooler that achieved this, I would be reluctant to believe it.
There is only a 200 rev difference in spool up between a T28R and a stock T28 so I doubt the pipe run of an intercooler is going to make much difference.

When I changed mine the boost came in sooner and held for much longer through the rev range before feeling like it was struggling.
Hi Daz, sorry if it sounds like I am being difficult but I just want to know. Is the difference 100 revs? 200? It makes no sense to me because once the pipes are pressurised at 0 psi then there should be no difference at all between the time it takes to get to full boost. Imagine a metre long pipe, and a 2 metre long pipe. Block one end and fill them both with water (0psi) now keep the water flowing, remove the cap (thing you used to block one end) and fill a 2 litre jug. Does it take the same amount of time or less?
