    s13 project (picture heavy)

    hello to everyone on sxoc.

after a few months of picture taking and mods i decided to get all the pictures together and add them to a project thread.

    So heres the story..

After spending a few months questioning people and researching into s13's i went on the search for a s13 gettin me as far as 200 miles away to view one.

after alot of searching and not finding one i wanted i passed a parked s13 about 500 yards away from my house.

i met the guy who owned it by accident explaining im looking for a 200sx and he said the one i had seen was his and it was up for sale for £1500 and turned out to be a solid car with a reconditioned engine in it that had done 500 miles (car actually done 55,000 with the old engine)

he did admit about the slight running issue but with the car baught in january and not going on the road till june it became my project.

im not mechanically minded but was willing to try, learn and fix this myself with advice from fellow sxoc members and friends.

the car i baught standard for £1500

so the first mod was to remove the spoiler and relocate the number plate.

after doing the usual stuff i got myself a set of BC racing coilovers from Aex preformance.

front on only in this picture

After getting some inspiration from a white s13 with green volk TE37i did a full 5 stud conversion and ordered my self a set of Rota grid drifts in 18x9.5 et35
    ....with triangle tyres stretched

then added them to the car along with alot of test fitment moments thinking they wernt going to fit.

when i realised how much time this s13 would take up i decided to have a clean-up and make some sort of work space

new home for the next couple of months.

rims on with the coilovers dropped low

Some time later with some money saved i took the "I need kouki lights" stance and got myself some.
while i waited eagerly for these lights i got some interoir stuff done
OMP corsica wheel and 3 gauges and playing about with a sub box and amp in the boot.

the lights came and i started straight away..

    fitted

then the mechanical stuff started to raise its ugly head.. discovered oil in my water so i suspected the head gasket and whipped the head out also replacing all the inlet gaskets...

Seemed very daunting like this but i got used to it

after discovery that it wasnt the HG and the head was checked by ERS in burscough i put her all back together.
The only discovery from all this was one manifold studs was snapped and was leaking through the gasket so i tapped it out and added a new one.

    sleepy eye mod..

My friend simon who has stuck with me with this car from the begining.

sourced some s14 brakes to slow me down..bearing in mind it wouldnt move for a few months.

got a front mount intercooler from egay and like i was advised but wouldnt listen i ran into problems with the piping but not going into all that again.

so a few pics of the car as it stood..

ran the car for a week and the symptoms started again, miss fire and juddery idle, spent alot of time doing everything that it may be but only just recently got told by micraplay to check the CAS and Cam splines and found them in this condition..

awaiting new cas and cam to fix this,
in the mean time, here i am pondering what to do next..

next mods going to be doing a new exhaust and maybe some carbon goodies.

big thanks to everyone on sxoc for the help and big thanks to shaun of church garage, both chris's, big gra for coming down for a nosey, and simon.

big plans for this so will keep posted.

this is gonna be a nice looking car by the look of things, it looks uber cool in grey and grid drfits ftw as far as i know theres only you and mejulie (on the board) running them, but im sure there gonna be a popular choice

sweet car fella you gonna leave the body standard ? (some subtle skirts would really suit it)

this has seriously been the biggest waste of time in my life, in the whole time of ownership i have driven it twice and has covered 6 miles.

may look good but its probably never going to leave the garage so its the most expensive waste of space i will ever have.

my 1st 14a dropped a valve after 2 months i was sure i would never buy another datsun 200 thing'y ever again, but when it was rebuilt and back on the road there was no going back.

why not get a sr and stick that in ??? i know its not cheap but itll be well worth it in the long run, or worst ways just buy a cheap CA and get it going again ? stick with it fella

the plan was to do an rb conversion along the line or a 2jz,..think is going to be coming up alot sooner than i thought,

update anyway, the battery cables that run it to the boot wernt right or something, jumped it from a car and it started, ran really bad but it at least started, its at a friends garage gettin looked over.

    glad its off my hands.

    love the car...hate the engine.

I hear ya mate. I just bought one myself and I'm looking at some similar engine problems. I don't really know what all it will entail, but hopefully it'll be an easy sort.

Hopefully your friend's garage gets it all sorted. Best of luck mate.
