Just read this through.
Good job doing nearly everything yourself, Especially with all the issues you've faced.
Car looks really good, Great original colour as well.

phew!just read the whole thread!awesome car mate and if you ask me defo worthy of a mag feature!cant wait to see what power it makes with the ecu!
Cheers guys, I'm stuck on what to do first,
Head gasket and headbolts?
Or ecu and remap?
I'm dying to get it back on the road so I'm thinking of ecu first.
I think I'm going to do the head gasket first ( 1.5 or 1.8 mm thick) and go for 450bhp on standard internals
As of Friday I'm ordering my arp headbolts and my head gasket.
Garage clean up and stripping begins, shame really I just got it looking right
Il hopefully be at a Sxoc weekender soon enough, will see if Stevie is up for it.
I'm on it to get it sorted
Right the arp headbolts have been ordered ..£150 so close to Christmas
But this needs to be finished now.
Engine work begins Monday.
Baught a compression tester aswell to check it before the head comes off.
while you've got the head off, I'd check the ring lands very carefully as best you can if you're not pulling them out, the RB25 pistons don't seem to be resistant to any det.
funny, I've gone for a forged bottom end, pistons, RB26 crank but I'm using standard head bolts and OEM gasket. done it the other way around.
I'm currently going one step forward, 3/4 step backwards with mine, progress but v. slow.
white '94 s13 200sx scrapped - mapped to 1.45bar. OS giken box, garrett GT2876R, 950cc injectors, ORC twin plate, nistune. 349bhp/325lbft @ 1.3bar CA18DET
white '96 s13 180sx - type g with more kouki bits - RB25DET, GTR steel twin turbo conversion, RB26 crank & rods. 2.6L VVT twin turbo, SR20 OSG box, OSG STR twin plate clutch, Z32 ECU w/ nistune.
current status: 180 a bit broken but to be repaired.
I might actually buy forged pistons and rods depending on funds after Xmas.
Progress is like you say very slow.
I didn't use aftermarket rods, I just picked up a good set of RB26 rods. they're more than enough and good quality - mine were within 2 grams of each other without any work done to them. The only thing I did do was replace the rod bolts with ARPs.
the rods are the same dimensions between RB25 & RB26 so they're useable on yours too
they're a little heavier than the aftermarket options but much cheaper.

In the process of buying a fully built engine.
Well that escalated quickly!

Yes it did matey, needs to be done, need to go mad with it
hello roy as i follow your build like a bit of a bible as i appear to be doing pretty much the same to my car my 3076r will be ordered like tomorrow or the day after and it may seems a childish question but heyyyyyy, are you going to run a bov with this setup is it worth it the gains etc, over the potentially awesome sound
Thanks Mike
awsome awsome, one last question ive been looking for a while now for a dmax style bonnet, and yours looks to be the best quality one ive seen, is it the carbon version that EP do? i even looked at ordering a dmax one from jap land but i couldnt seem to find a place to even do that
So...
Bit of an update, only took 5 years to get back on here..
The s13 is very much still going and still in good condition,
Engine rebuilt and forged by Rb motorsport.
After a few years of not much use Iv decided to get the car back out and using it again,
Not much been happening as life getting in the way.
So as of next week the car will be back out and having a full roll cage fitted which I should of done a long time ago.
Pics to follow
I’m still hanging in to the 200sx gang 👍🏻
