    E85 powered 180sx

Im about to start playing about with a few things on my car soon so figured i might as well make a thread here.

this is my car, i brought it in from japan last september.
    full spec is here http://www.sxoc.com/site/rides/ride.php?Member_ID=9368

(pics lifted from the Irish RR thread, hope the lads wont mind)

Since ive had the car i havent done too much with it. I got it converted to e85 not long after having it on the road. Ive been running sard 850cc's until now, but they were maxing out at 1bar so fueling upgrades has been on the cards for a little while now but pushed sooner than planned after the RR days results.

here are the parts ive gotten so far..

the bride is for the pass. side. The drivers seat is small as frick but its a perfect fit around my back so holds me perfectly.
I just got the 330mm front brake and 322 rear z32 brake kit from DB power today, so these will be the first to be fitted along with some braided lines.

Ive got a copy Greddy plenum that im planning on boring out to 70mm so i can use the N1 T/B.

The next stage for getting enough e85 flowing is a total fuel system upgrade.
    Bosch 044
    2~2.5ltr swirl pot
    8mm fuel lines
    RC Engineering 1200cc injectors
    2 x Z32 fuel filters
    Aeromotive fpr
    -6an fuel rail and fitting

Jp has proven that set up works so im gonna copy it

Most of the parts are on the way to me now so hopefully this will move along pretty quickly

I got a little work done over the weekend.

Ive been talking about it for a while but i finally got the plenum bored out to 70mm.

This is what had to come off,

I couldnt see anyway to hold it on a mill or m/c properly so ended but using this, a dyegrinder with a 6mm endmill.

not really a safe tool i have to say

I got it bored out to about 69.5mm most of the way around. I dont have the TB yet so i cant compair the bores but should be pretty close. There was alot of excess sh1t just inside the opening that i tapered back a bit too.

Its more circular than it looks in the pics, the white stuff around he outside of the bore is tipex, handy stuff when trying to mark out stuff thats got bits of mental flying over it.

While i was at it i tidied up a few other flaws from the cast,

there was of excess from the mold left in the centre of all the port, going from about 2-5mm high and wide so i took them out of it.

I had hoped to fit my new brakes this weekend but i got cought up doing other stuff and only got to paint my new rear calipers. I was thinking of either spraying them black and keeping it subtle looking or doing something stupid.

as you can see i did something stupid, but i like em. Should look different when there on if nothing else.

after a weekend of trying to get work done on the car i managed to do feck all

Good news is my wheel is being repaired and il have it back some day this week.

I went at putting my new brakes this weekend and things didnt go to well.
I brought home the wrong socket for the rear hub from work i could only get back into today so will have to wait until next weekend now to try again.

I got the front discs on for a while then more sh1t went wrong and they had to come off hopefully il be able to make up what i need in work tomorrow when noones looking.

heres a few pics of my pointless effort,

    new vs old

    on the car briefly

Getting those spacers off the front was a right pain

can you spot whats missing from this pic?

the stud will push out, with some effort. but wont turn in the hub. will it be ok or will it need replacing?

After feeling like i got nothing done over the weekend i went at sticking in these tonight,

easy enough job to be fair.

    cheap engine shot

what does the circled plate do? Its either got to come out or get cut a little just wondering which option to take.

Post man brought this today too

less cock ups n more progress soon hopefully

looks like it just stops the oil coming back from the breeder pipe falling on the cams.

Post man was here again today

big thanks to mazworx for getting this stuff out to me

Ive got some measuring up of the plenum and injectors to do now, then next week il cut and bore out the fuel rail and make some stainless inserts for the injectors to sit in in the plenum.

The walbro will be going in over the weekend cos my nismo pump is on its way out.
My wheel is fixed and il be picking it up tomorrow hopefully

Cheers ray, i ground back the plate a bit to let the RAS sit under it. I figured it was there for a reason lol

Ah ok, thanks dude. you had me wondering there.

I went at taking of the big nut on my rear hubs over the weekend. The drivers side came off easily enough but I broke 2 strong bars trying to open the nut on the passanger

so I got this for the job..

its good a for a few hundred nm' of torque

    opened it nicely too

    little bit of an update...

The car finally passed the nct so now its back in the shed for the fuelling bits for be stuck on.

I did the lazy eye wire snip on the car, im not sure if i prefer it this way or not. (sorry for the crap phone pics)

a better pic of the front from the meet last weekend,

Ive swapped fuel pumps, gotta say i was suprised with the size of the walbro. its tiny!

and at long last ive gotten my new brakes on , its only the fronts for the min but that should change over the weekend.

330mm discs and still lots for room to spare.

gotta say im loving the coverage of the pad on the disc. it sits over the entire surface area.
Thanks to Dan at db power too for helping me out with a few problems i was having

Il be machining up a few parts for the plenum in work tomorrow and maybe get the fuel rail done on saturday. Il wire in the injector driver when i get my hands on some solder. I want to fit it before sticking in the new injectors to make sure its working right before i pull everything off. it says it can work with both high and low impedance injectors, so i guess il find out soon.
