Z32 Gearbox rebuild

Hi Mazworks.

I have your Z32 gerbox kit, on my S14 - and i think i have a problem with the synchro of the 4th gear. It wont gon into 4th, unless i rev real low - it always gave e problems, from day one - but now, it just doesnt work, shifting into 4th at high revs.

Do you have or can you get a Rebuild set/kit for this box ?

I know that the newer (98 on) boxes, were upgraded to double syncros on some of the gears - i think 4th as well..... Any chance you know wheter these would fit on the older (pre 96) boxes, and can you get a complete set of these for replacement ?

Yes i did..... Inspected Trans + Complete Kit with Carbon Drive shaft etc...

Hardly did a few miles on the gear box, before it started grinding ocationaly when fast shifting into 4th, wich got worse and worse, until now that it hardly ever goes in 4th, if the revs are above 4000-5000 rpm.
2nd to 3rd, also grinds ocationaly, but usualy its ok ..... i winder if its not on the way like the 4th....

Mine does this, as does my mates R34 GTT. Okay when the box is cool and low revs when hot. I only get a grind atm, but I'm sure it will get worse Z32 4th synchro seems to be prone to failing.

Thats why iam asking about the newer double synchros....i know that Nissan revised this, and i heard they can be retro fit to our older boxes...
The thing is i woudnt know how to spot if i get a new synchro set, wheter its the newer or older versions.

I was hoping Mazworxs would have some solutions here.

It is kind of a bummer, that the box i got, although inspected, started doing this so soon.
I am not sure i have even done two fuel tanks since i put the box in.

4th is completly usless at the moment....

Well, I look into your situation and came up with the conclusion of this. We always always tear the gearboxes apart and inspect them from top to bottom throughly especially if its going international so we dont run into any problems. As these are used parts, they are sold in as-is condition, but like stated early we inspect/clean every single one sold.

What I can do is find out what it would cost for you the newer 4th gear double synchro at our cost.

I wasnt empling its your fault, or that i expect anything from you guys, although if you do look into my order details, you will remeber that my gearbox came with a broken shifter "striking interlock" that you were nice enough to send over - but it did require me fitting it and paying for all the rebuild gaskets etc needed to open and close the box back.

I will mention that you did covered the shipping for all this, and i much appritited it.


Anyway, iam just asking if you can help me here, with sourcing the parts needed for a rebuild, as i stated.
I dont know what is envolved in replacing synchros in a gear box.

To be more to the point -
1) my gearbox makes a WINING sound in all the gears, exept 4th - from day 1.
2) my gearbox gears grind, especialy in 3rd and 4th, from day 1.
3) my 4th gear grinds now all the time, and cant be engaged at above 4000RPM or so.

I need all the parts needed to fix these problems, once and for all.
I dont understand much about gearboxes, but i know that Nissan made revisions to the synchros and meaby other parts - so i want these newer parts.
I dont know how to distinguish between the older model parts and the new once, so this is why iam asking you to get me the parts.


I realize its "USED" and i dont expect you to pay for the rebuild, though i would appritiate anything you can do for pricing, as i did pay extra, to get an "Inspected" box, and not just a junk yard (whatever your luck is) one, and this is the second time i need to take the thing apart and replace parts inside, and it hardly did 1000 kilometers of town driving.

I am very happy with the Carbon Driveshaft, and your service on the previous matter though. :-)
