Maybe the conservatives won't be better than laboour. Then again, maybe they will. It would be nice for this to be proven rather than speculated upon though. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. This article proves nothing.

The article isn't really saying that the conservatives will be worse at governing than labour its saying that all politicians are lazy, corrupt, incompetent idiots. Don't need to be a top flight political journalist to work that one out.

Peter Oborne has written a couple of books which are scathing attacks on politics in general so i dont expect him to heap praise on any party.

As aitch has said, we wont know what the tories are gonna be like. But i would rather give it a chance than sit on the fence like the other 90% of the population and put up with shit in case the next bunch make it worse. If we as a country voted governments in & out more regularly perhaps they might start acting in the public interest a bit more.

So who the fcuks left to vote for

According to you they're all shit and the Max Power fella isn't standing in my constituency next time.
No wonder no one bothers voting with people like you around putting a downer on the lot of em!
So what they're all corrupt and only looking out for themselves. At least if the Tories get into power this time around things should be a little better for the general public for a year or two

Come on. Tell me something good about one of the parties for a change ffs

Of course this is not proof of the future, unless anyone knows of a time machine, no such thing exists.
Its always going to be speculation, but in my mind I dont see the tories repealing the most disgusting aspects of this governments laws. Indeed most of these laws are there to make the running of government easier for the incumbent, so why repeal them?

Sure, certain flim flam can be removed, speed cameras will go, MP's second home expenses will go, etc
But big core issues such as reformation of the police and lawyers, depoliticising the civil service, ministerial responsibility, pension reform, devolving power from the executive - These wont happen.

The tories are desperate for power, have no ideas, media friendly, sound familiar? Blair.
Major before him wasnt any better. Major/Blair are the templates.
We need to break this cycle of shallow self serving politicians, hungry for power, that is bringing this country to its knees.
We need MP's who have worked in the real world, not lawyers, but farmers, businessmen, salesmen, engineers, like us in fact.

And how many decent farmers, businessmen, salesmen, engineers and 200sx owners like us are going to want to lower themselves to the level of a politician

The Tories will struggle to do worse than this government has done so far!

    We need change, asap.

Politicians are all c*nts, so let's not leave each party in for too long!

One of them isn't in power, surely that's a good thing. Imagine both of them together. How scary is that?

Vote for the opposition every time. They only get 5 years each then.

I can't argue with any of that

The current situation was brought home to me the other day when it was on the news about the Solidarity movement in Poland. The communist party thought that Solidarity would never be able to be in a position of power, so threw the country open to free elections. Solidarity won and it ended communism in Poland. And the rest of the eastern bloc. If only the current imcumbents of the UK had the bollocks to do the same...

Edit: ^^^^ Gordon Brown doesn't even have the bollocks to call a general election because he knows damn well he will lose.

It's worth adding that those of you who choose to sit on your arse and not vote because they're all shit really aren't helping.

At the very least you should go to the elections and spoil your ballot paper. This is pretty easy to do (especially if you register for postal voting), just go there and draw a big cock in each box, or if you're bored like I was at the last one, go there and draw caricatures of each politician in there. It doesn't really matter. Just write "they're all shit" on there. If you have a Monster Raving Loony candidate or some fringe nutjob party (other than the BNP) then maybe go vote for them if you at least vaguely agree with what they're proposing.

The reason for spoiling the ballot paper is that these do get counted but usually only make up less than a percent of the total votes. What I'd like to see is for everyone who thinks that all the parties are shit to go out and do this. I want to see "spoilt ballot paper" get more votes than than the local Labour or Tory candidate. I want to see crap candidates forced to resign because the Monster Raving Loony candidate got more votes than them. (note: this has happened in the past)

If you sit on your arse and do nothing then you have no right to complain when a party gets in that you don't like.

It doesnt matter what party gets in...i still wont like them.

I dont vote because i know there is no point because if the Government wants to do something, they will, and there is nothing we ( the voter or non voter ) can do about it.

We are told we have a right to vote and have a voice....but are our voices realy hurd??....errr no.

How do you know you don't have a voice when you don't even try to use it?

Lets say that 40% vote Labour 35% Conservative 15% Lib Dem 10% other parties. If i was to vote in any party other than Labour my voice wouldnt be hurd, and neither would the other 60% of UK voters.

I dont know politics, but i firmly belive that people of the UK will be taken for mugs buy any sucsessor of the current governments mistakes. This will continue until the end of days.

The thing about it is, I personally wouldn't give two craps about them fiddling expenses, looking after there old boy network and generally being corrupt pigs, if they didn't keep ****ing us over so much in the process.
They have eroded and took away too much and fattened themselves up too much. time for a spring clean.

If you, and all the other people who thought the same actually voted for a party other than labour the percentages would shift and your voice would be heard
