Which cars would be realistic rivals for the 200sx.
Which cars would be realistic rivals for the 200sx.
Impreza - similar price and performance but 4wd
BMW 330c - more expensive, but same RWD and performance - you pay more, but get an interior that is expensive rather than cheap plastic
Evo 3/4 - similar price and performance but 4wd
Ford probe - ducks - same size though
Fiat Coupe - similar price and performance but FWD ... more practical
180sx -
Added to Johnny's list could be the Honda Prelude and Rover 220 Coupe.
there isn't much really, if your after an 80's, 90's turbo'd RWD car of that size, Sierra Cossie?
forget the turbo's and go for like performance you can add a few beemers I guess
Throw the Vauxhall Calibra on the list as well.
(I hate just about all Vauxhalls, but I always thought these were a seriously good looking car. Thinking about it, I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road. )

would you say the vw corrado and golf gti?
ST205 Celica
It didn't not specify it either, but I just assumed so because of the phrase "realistic rivals". And I would base it on magazine articles and the motoring press at the time, and their definition of the rival cars.
Personally, having had both, I would never consider an MR2 a rival for a 200SX, but then I suppose it all depends on what the criteria is that you are looking at it from.
Astra Vxr ? Lol (although they will anilate the 200s lol)
^^^wot he said.
My shortlist had only one other two door car on it, before I bought the S14..
However, if this was a 1995 magazine group test, chances are all the others would be coupes too.
If it were 2011, the rivals include Sports Hatches, train tickets and god forbid, diesels.
Ok rivals with the same type of tuning potential and owners club cred
True rivals...
Well the cos and MR2 really are the only two i can think of that fit the bill.
The fiat coupe is close, the probe and calibra similar but all miss the overriding no1 aspect of the sx - Its rwd and it wants you to know it.
The impreza and evo are a different type again, nothing like as involving to drive.
Bmw's are also completely different as they dont have turbos.
So its Cossy and Mr2, and the MR2 kind of doesnt even fit in either. Leaving only the Sierra Cos as the sx's real predecessor - not a bad one to have really
Ohh and Ashtray vxr's do me a fooking favour
when i was looking for a new car it was a choice of
Coupe 20VT - Nice tuning potential, they go well but FWD
MR2 Turbo - Nice but unpractical with just the 2 seats
S14A 200sx - And here we are, even tho sometimes i regret it lol
What about Honda Integra Type R 2.2 VTECH and the odd Toyota Starlet with some good mods are pretty rapid
