Then I would try go for Stage 1 mods

Going by how many of these things are crashed on here, many by newbies. I think you would be best advised to follow the second posters quotes here.
27-280 odd hp on stock suspension with stock brakes and a newbie to RWD laryness will likely end up with a bent car.

if the people on here are to be believed... I already own a bent one

first mods would be suspension and brakes. The look a 40-50 mm drop gives to these cars beats any bodykit I have seen. These would be done before any serious engine mods. I take it an induction and exhaust dont count in this though!

Welcome dude, mods you want in this order:
wheels (17"/wide), suspension (coilovers or decent shocks + lowering springs/ARBs/etc), exhaust, air filter, breaks then worry about chipping and more power, get some decent suspension and breaks first then push the power

first mod for me was resicred hks bov and a front mount intercooler, wont be long before your car starts juddering and drinking fuel. most intercoolers are leaky so best to put one in mate

I had stage two on standard brakes and lowered suspention and had zero problems...

Not everyone wants to spend thousands on a car that is worth peanuts! Don't drive like an ass and you'll be fine.

We aint going down this argument again.
Stock brakes fine for stock power, stock suspension fine for stockish levels of power.
300hp = better brakes and suspension.
Why bother increasing the power if you aint going to use or cant use it safely.

Get down to Apex and get a full set of Ksports

Don't bother with the BOV it'll not make a whistle between gear changes as an auto.

Well I did and have had zero issues and zero crashes or any near misses for that matter and I've loved every min of it! And that's over about 2 years.

Yeah, in an ideal world brakes and suspension, but brakes and suspension are big money and a standard S14 is worth what these days? £1.5k?

I drive quickly when the conditions allow, I don't go on tracks so I never have to take corners that fast.

Have you ever driven an SX with 300bhp and stock brakes and stockish suspention? If so what problems did you find?

I love driving too much.. to be honest I always think twice breaking the speed limit let alone doing anything crazy enough to wreck a car!

I do agree with you though, my current car was timed 0-60 in 5.9 and the brakes just cant reign it in so I drive it like a grandma!

Luxury cruising with a turbo kick ftw!

I'd prefer to be quicker on standard power using better brakes and handling.

I'd be very much a liar if I said I drove slow! I've never had any issues with the stock brakes?! Yeah they could be better, but I've never had an issue with them!

EDIT: Scott, and that's your prerogative mate... I prefer to have straight line speed rather than take corners like an ass on the road. On a track, it would be a completely different story.
