    performance problem stage3

    hello,
im from germany, so excuse my bad english.
I was on Friday on a dynamometer.
My Sx has a complete stage 3 setup. the result of the dyno was very disappointing. At 1,4bar it makes 261hp , at 1,5bar 235hp and on 1bar only 180hp. The performance curves looked like shit and starting from 4000rpm go only up and down. The guy from the dyno says, that the engine dont get enough fuel. I have checked the ignition timing and its on 15°.
I have not yet a air fuel gauge, but I am already looking for some.
It would be really fine, if someone could help me. Thank you

    Setup:
    - engine new
    - GT2560R
    - z32lmm
    - 444cc
    - Walbro
    - 2,5" elbow and DP ; 3" 100 cells catalytic converter; 2,25" Fujitsubo
    - Volvo Fmic

    regards,
    HannesCB

    Have you checked fuel pressure?
Are the injectors new or used? Have you had them cleaned and flow tested?

    What about the fuel filter?
A Z32 one is bigger so is a good upgrade if you want to flow more fuel.

You'll need a fuel pressure gauge to check on it, what ignition/fuel map are you running on your engine?

A Horsham Stage 3 chip is pretty much written for your spec

Hello, I am a friend of Hannes. This is a copy of Horsham stage3 chip. We think it could be a bad copy!
Could the original fuel pressure regulator is broken and something really?
He drives a Nissan original fuel filter. It should be enough i think!

    Thanks for your help!

    Greetings from Germany!

You may try using the 300zx fuel filter, and if the original fuel pressure regulator isn't 100% you should notice some strugles at some rpm's when driving... i supose you have one uprated air filter! you should have around 260hp at least at 1.2 bar with a T28r...

there is nothing such as a "bad copy" ... it works, or it does not. You cant make a bad copy of something digital, let alone an EPROM which always makes a checksum test.

you may have a fake walbro, there are a lot. If you got it from ebay, 9 chances out of 10 it is a fake one. They fail quite fast.

i expect its fuel pressure, you need an induction filter nissan 1 is crap and wont help matters, and buy a real chip from horsham then you will know its not that you said a copy but you dont know its a copy of a real horsham chip, which is very naughty anyway use the real deal then you know its good.

and make sure the fuel pump works ok.

    Isn't GT28R a GT2860R? That would mean that you have a smaler turbo than a GT28R

    I have this turbo:
    http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...R_466541_4.htm
i would look for a fuel pressure gauge! And i get an Innovate Wideband LM-1 in a few days, so i can check die air fuel ratio.
Any Ideas how i can check the walbro?
Ludi get an eprom in a few days with original image of horham stage3 chip. So we can check, whether the chip is okay.

I need an induction filter ?

Im sure thats a T25? This is a T28 http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...R_707160_5.htm and if I am right, your turbo is too small anyway.

the t28r will do fine on a stg3 h-dev chip... a bit of overfuelling I guess, but it will do fine.

have you checked for air leaks.
isnt the exhaust a bit small for that power i thought 2.5-3 inch exhaust for that power.
maybe pm jz at HD and send him your spec and he mite be abel to shed some light on the situation.

Just to put one aspect of this thread to bed...

GT2560R is the proper name that Garrett use for what we on this forum usually call a GT28R.

It is not the same turbo as fitted to a standard S13 - what we call a T25.

It is a rollerbearing turbo similar to a T28 but with better spooling characteristics.

It's a shame the graph doesn't show AFRs but if the dyno man says its running lean at the top end that suggests fuel pump, fuel filter or possibly knackered injectors...maybe.

How confident are you in the parts that supply fuel ?

Silly question but what colour are your injectors ?

who is jz at HD ? sorry i dont unterstand.
the injectors was yellow. I dont have check them! The changed parts in the fuel supply are the injectors and the walbro.
In the next days i get an innovate wideband lm-1. I will install and then i can tell more about the air fuel mix. Then i possibly want to buy some SARD fuel pressure regulator and maybe an fuel pressure gauge. There are any cheaper fuel pressure regulators, that nevertheless good ?
