Talking Keeping it Standard! Honest - JC SX s14a

Ok I joined the forum to read up on doing some little servicing bits and also wanted to install a bluetooth headunit or parrot so needed some info on taking the dash apart etc
Now after owning the car 6 weeks it seems i'm now full on modding it and I've reached stage 1a and just had the H-dev chip fitted yesterday...

    First up

Picked up the car and ragged it home from the dealer I found it at, V plate 86k and no mods whatsoever

The only pic I took when I first had it, hated the orange sides and front lights

    soon fixed those
Next up after getting a new downpipe fitted I found I was blowing from the turbo to manifold gasket quite a bit, so turbo had to come off and after finding that the couple of garages I tried had 3 week waiting lists I decided to get a new socket set and get tinkering! didnt matter if it took a while or I messed up slightly as its not my daily.

    Turbo out and blown gasket

Turbo all cleaned up and fresh gaskets all round, new turbo elbow fitted also and all given a lick of black high heat paint..

Some forum browsing got me some nice bits second hand and they promptly got fitted, Apex Sensible Exhaust and Apex Type 2 Front Inter cooler

group buy led me to Tuning Developments 255ltr/hr fuel pump and fitted that

Front end strip down, fitted FMIC and HID lights, changed all the oil and coolant, new oil filter and rebuilt

Some goodies turned up, HKS grade 7's, AVC-R

How it stands today and spec so far:

Clear front side lights and side repeaters
    Alpine Bluetooth/MP3/CD/FM headunit
    Xenoflow HID kit 6k bulbs
    Apexi Air intake
Tuning Developments 255ltr p/hr fuel pump
    300zx Fuel filter
Apex sensible 3" exhaust (turbo back)
    Decat Simons silencer box
    Modified standard BOV
    Apex stainless Turbo elbow
Turbo out and rebuild (new gaskets and braided lines from Hose Solutions)
    Apex Type 2 FMIC
    APEXI AVC-R
    HKS grade 7 plugs
Oil changed to new silkolene Racing 10w40, K&N Oil filter, magnetic sump plug
    H-Dev Stage 1a chip

Currently tweaking the boost for 17psi or 1.20Kg/cm2 and hoping it equals out to 270bhp ish! it definitely is quicker!

Looks clean and tidy. Note you're in Caterham, I recognised the highstreet. There's a few of us in the local area, I live on the borders of South Croydon and Sanderstead. If you've got nothing better to do tomorrow evening you should pop along to the Monkey Puzzle meet in Chessington (only 20 mins away) - see southeast section.

You should also take your car to Charlie at Surrey Rolling road (Wokingish) and stick it on the rollers.

Nice one chap sweet example you have got yourself there, and all the power to you for having a go at the jobs yourself. If in doubt ask! there are plenty of people with a wealth of knowledge and experience on here who will be willing to help..

18" 350z wheels running 350z Tyres at the moment, like how it fills the rear arch but sitting way high up front, handling is off and speed feels affected will need new tyres and alignment and some lowering springs soon..
    Also kouki front grill fitted!

Upgraded brakes were needed to keep the stage 1a power in check so fitted the DB power 345mm big brake kit, had to switch back to my original calipers and fitting was a headache as the kit was second hand but got it done and all set up nicely

Now I have some spare R32 GTR calipers and S14a EBC grooved discs to sell

New Nismo Air filter attached to the z32 AFM and Apex shiny pipe via some bits supplied by 800bhp on ebay.

can't fit it until remapping but its sitting here bugging me daily, along with poncams, 740cc injectors and a RAS kit

    just need more funds!

Couple of comparison pictures showing size of gt2871r vs the T28
Looks like my T28 came out just in time, the wheels look fine but it has massive in and out play compared to 3 months ago when I last had it out, im in the process of getting 2871 in but trying to get it done right with best parts etc, oil restrictor or no oil restrictor that is the question..

Had a mate take a couple of pics with his professional cam and lights, not many mods to the body so far, but I like it anyway

    IMG_3726.JPG

New ORC Twinplate Clutch and flywheel now installed rated to 700 PS

New Tial QR recirculating Dump valve installed

I've also had it up at H-Dev for its Stage3b mods and clutch fitting

    spec list now includes:

    Nismo 740cc injectors
    Tomei Poncams
    Tomei Ras kit
Brian Crowler Valve springs and Ti retainers
    Z32 AFM
    Tial QR BOV
ORC twin plate clutch & flywheel

Just gotta sort out some uprated coil packs and it should be running perfect for the summer and a few track days
