are you still on budget for 3k
are you still on budget for 3k
Just a quick update for everyone who was interested in this project.
The car is in storage for a while but I will complete her once the S14 is done.. So maybe the end of 2012
Bloody hell, now Ive found my second favourite thread on here looking awesome nismo, what engine are you planning to run?
Thanks mate.
Nothing exciting I'm afraid the original CA will be going back in eventually. Will be running stage 2.
It will exciting enough!! a still chassi and 270bhp should be enough to give a LOT of more expensive machinery a run for its money!! Good luck with it bud and I look forward to seeing how it pans out next year
Nice work dude. It's great to see people going to town on shells. Old cliche 'power is nothing without control'
very impressive and tidy work
Time for an update. After finishing my s14 I am now starting on this but going in a different direction. Going back to standard by removing the cage and refitting an interior. Still going stage 3. Pics to follow soon
that does look lovely, will keep an eye on this one, why the change of plans if you dont mind me asking?
wow it's super satisfying to see a job done as thoroughly as this.. definitely giving me some pointers for when I strip my chassis!
Does the process go:
- strip rust and seam sealer
- stitch weld (for added rigidity if required) and cut/weld any rust holes
- spraycan with electrolux primer
- reapply seam sealer
- roller/brush on stonechip
- 2k paint for finish with spray gun?
and how does this differ from the process on the rest of the chassis? (ie: not the underside)
I wan't to make sure I do things properly when I get round to it..!
Cheers
Thanks for getting back to me, I didn't know you could apply 2k stuff with a brush (haven't used it before). Does the 3M stonechip come in an aerosol or is it a compressor paint gun job? Did you apply stonechip to the body panels under the top coat as well? I shall find petrol's thread for reference!
Cheers
Hi. Yes the 2k can be brushed on but be very careful with it , wear full overalls gloves and a good respirator. The stone chip I used was applied with a compressor. But as you said you can get brush and spray can types. I put stone chip along the edge of the sills only . Not on any other upper panels
Thanks for the advice. Keep up the top work, I'll be keeping an eye on this!
im always really impressed and moved by full renovation projects like this ha. and this one is no difference. the work is a credit to you and its good to see an update your budget is also really impressive! i guess anyone that reads it first is like "he'll never manage to stick to it" and we all know that usually we go like 10k over budget with sbody projects ha, so im baffled as to how your really keeping all the costs so low (maybe super self control? )
look forward to more!

I managed to sell some bits off the car after I bought it, body kit and wheels so I was already £200 up.
impressed to see something revived after such a long time, so fair play to you and ill be looking forward to see how it progresses
