It would have failed an MoT anyway and probably been off the road for longer so its a good thing. Honest.

As Dow said earlier in the thread, some of us S14 owners have been trying to warn the others...

True that... although the side skirt did pop out, but was appropriately pushed back in

The amount of work that i had done on mine last year on both inner rear arches and the wishbone areas was mental. Had to drop the subframe as the rot goes up that far.

Looks like it's the turn of my sills this year on the passenger side

Tho tbh I jacked my 13 up a couple of years ago on the chassis and the jack went through that, even to the point of taking out the metal clutch pipe

Worth replacing the subframe with a poly bushed version at the same time perhaps?

Guessing it would cost a fair amount to do the underside properly? Just feel like stripping the car entirely, welding and sorting everything out then putting it back together... but nothing aint purrrrfect (refering to the funny cat there) now is it

Thats what I was thinking also. Imho if you have to drop the sub frame it would be stupid to not replace the bushes at the same time

That's not an unusual sight round here for S14s

Just ask Veef13, XR33GTS, Sprout etc etc etc.

In fact, Ameano, PM veef about the welding, he knows a top place that did his

If you hadn't jacked it there if they even poked it at MOT it would have made a hole.

They stopped making them in 1998 so anything registered after then will have just sat in a field/car lot untill someone bought it.

    Still a shame

it's worrying to see more of this but *ahem* some of us solent local's with older 14's have only had a 1.5in square repair in the life of their car .

    12/13/14/a/15 owners beware

Mine has had the rear sill rebuilt at some point in '08. Such a shame they rust so bad.

Always pay's to have a bit of a feel about under the sill before you jack it up. Bet it came as a shock on a car that is less than 10 years old.

Crickey! - and this is why I take mine off the road over the winter - while salt is down. That's really shocking for a car <10 yrs!
