Indicators not working but not the bulbs????

The drivers side of my mx5 has no indicators now, sometimes they work most of the time they don't.

I've checked the bulbs and its not them and there appears to be no obvious explanation about why sometimes it suddenly starts working

is this likely to be a wiring problem?

sounds to me like a ground or a switch problem. get a schematic and start tracing the wires. only way to tell.

Could be the wiring (broken wire, loose wire at the light or switch) - or the column switch may be faulty. Best to check current with a multimeter - at the light - and at the switch - trace the wiring back from the light to the switch and loom.
