You should set the boost at 1.2 bar or 17psi or it will be down..

Sounds about right - 280-290bhp but start saving those pennies for a turbo as I can't see the stock one holding out much longer.

    Why out of interest?

I'll say about 287bhp atf to be on the safe side, although some have seen well over 300bhp atf

big exhausts and more hp suck the life out of t28s litterally !

how can you get a bleed valve to hold that ?.. mine was hitting boost cut at like half a twist on after i fitted an fmic n stuff !

I got 245bhp at the wheels when I was at Stage 2 (was calculated as 309 at the fly). Mark's car was VERY similar power on the same day, and he got ~290 at Surrey Rolling Road very soon afterwards. I'd say that on a realistic set of rollers you should get anywhere from 290-300bhp calculated at the flywheel, assuming you get the boost set to 1.2bar

As for turbo life, I was running that setup for over a year (possibly 2 years) and did quite a few track days as well as daily driving. The turbo was near perfect when I removed it to upgrade to a 28RS. It had done ~70000 miles at that point

well its not a dawes its a bit bleed screw which can be fitted in the cabin so you can adjust whilst driving.seems to work well never had spiking or any other issuses.holds boost all the way as shown
    on the boost gauge.

i ll post the results later, fingers crossed.

er, I'll be the first to ask, but what rolling road was this on?

I think most people are going to tell you that 300bhp at 1-bar on the standard turbo is simply not possible . If it's a dyno dynamics rolling road, then you've got yourself a VERY good result

and "not bad"? What do you mean "not bad?" . I got 309 at an optimistic rolling road running 1.2bar. If I got 300bhp at 1-bar, I'd be chuffing chuffed

300 plus at just 1 bar hmmmm
1.2 bar yeah but just 1 thats hard to believe, cold air could have helped though..

As for blowing t28's i mullered mine last year when i pushed it to 1.3 bar held, it lasted for about 3 weeks but hey it was deliberate to see how long it would last

ok so i ll go with what its says on the gt dyno tuning sheet done at
Read Performance in New Milton 01425 619765

    total engine power...303.044hp 291.38ft'lb
    1000.0mbar pressure

i am not going to argue with that
several different makes and model of jap cars run and most were spot on or very close to what was expected.

What was the power at the wheels out of interest?

For reference, I made 246 at the wheels at 1.2bar on my standard turbo at similar mileage to yours (with the standard run of mods and HD chip). It's this "at the wheels" figure that is the most accurate, rather than the calculated value

Good result though and as Sideways points out, the cold weather helps

at the wheels was 263.679=303.044bhp @ the flywheel

    loss of 39.364hp in transmisson

got to admit it was bloody cold and that forced air would have defo helped

What did Mark have to say about his result?

300bhp is a bit high @ 1bar, but judging by the other high results yours is running just right
