what size m/t have you gone for? as they will be a larger rolling radius than the stock tyres, if you calculate that you need x amount of reduction in gearing the larger tyres could bring you back to where you started from! also the speed on the quater is timed over that last 10ft or so, which means your actually going a tad faster over the line so don't cut it too close.
imo it would be better to change one gear less, assuming your boarderline as that change is gonna cost you .5 secs or so
you can use this to work it out easily http://golenengineservice.com/calc/calcmph.htm taken from here http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/calculators.html
also can use this to give you a better idea on gear ratios and stuff if you can be arsed
http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/accel_sim1.htm just look up the stuff you don't know on the web or make it fit to what you have done before
I swapped out my S14a LSD and dropped in a helical LSD, its pretty straight forward, but I would get a pro to do the final shimming. I have to whip it out again to fit a different ring and pinion. I want a 4.3, but a 4.1 is going to be cheaper as the yanks have those fitted as standard.
