Renting or digs in the Aberdeen area

Basically after getting layed off at the start of the month a diesel shop in Aberdeen is wanting me to go work for them. It's the same place that wanted me last summer (Airylea Motors) but due to my change in circumstances i can't really knock it back this time.
What are the nice parts of the city or surounding area to live? The place is on the southside of the river and i don't mind commuting a reasonable distance to get there if living out of town.
I'm wanting to only live there during the week and travel back to Ayrshire at the weekends.
Ideally somewhere with a drive or off the road parking as my 200 is still my only car.
    Any help apreciated lads

    Roy.

well airylea motors is in tory which is not the nicest place to be keeping your car so I'd probably suggest looking a bit further away for accomodation. I'm afraid I dont really have any other suggestions other than that though.

wow, all your nightmares come true in one house move.

Its not really 40 minutes from torry this time of year, only in the summer. The misses took 2 hours to get to altens today and that was using all our short cuts. On a good week day morning it takes an hour at the least.

Good news on the job front.

Bad news is that Aberdeen's property market has not been hit by the credit crunch renting is going to be a s4it hole one bedroom for not very sensible money and anything with a driveway you are going to need a lottery win

have a look here aspc for some ideas.

If you leave it with me a day or 2 I'll see if I can sort digs out with a couple of my friends. They are normally fully booked during the week, but I'll see what I can do price wise etc. . .

I was going to suggest places like, Cove, Altens, and Maybe Portlethen. Stonehaven is only about 12miles from Torry but in the morning would still take the best part of 30 - 45 milnutes to come in, unless you are up early doors. Prices in Stonehaven are steadily rising aswell as it is classed as a desirable area. Would hate to see what the prices are like now.

As said the credit crunch, so called recessions etc never really effect Aberdeen prices much.

    Good luck mate

    Cool cheers Ade
I'll do a bit more hunting tonight. Would be handy if the fella i worked with before could get a job there too as we could split the cost of renting and weekend fuel

Right mate, I've booked you into a hotel on Dee street if you want it. Family room, en-suite for £35 a night.

I've to speak to my mate later to see if I can get something off the price for you. Let me know ASAP
