    YannG's USDM - S14a - Navan Sideskirts

Hey guys...Finally became a member so thought i would put up a progress blog!

BAck when i had a 106 rallye, i felt it was time to move on and wanted something rear wheel drive and turbo'ed, so decided to start looking at a few different ones!
Long story short, 2 weeks later ( back in march 2011 i bought this :

Sapphire Blue, Touring spec with black leather option

    130,000 Miles

    Engine: Stage 1 Mods

    Walbro high capacity fuel pump.

Apexi induction kit, with genuine fitting kit.
    S15 spec-R wing mounted intercooler
    Pigeon "Chatter" Mod

    KYB AGX Dampers all round.
    Apex -30mm springs.
Front and Rear upper Strut Braces (REAR NOT FITTED)

Standard Touring Spec Interior apart from Splitfire boost gauge mounted on carbon fibre plate in dash (in place of ash tray)
Sony Mp3 head unit, (and six disc auto changer).
Full black leather as per touring spec.
A genuine working NATS 2 Alarm System (rare)

    Transmission:

New Stage 3 - 6 Paddle Clutch & Genuine Nissan Release Bearing

    On my way home:

The next day i gave it a full inside/outside clean, fitted the rear strut brace along with a sunstrip!

Most of this was last year, so dont remember much as to when everything happened! This was taken during a drive back to london with my mates ek9 ( great car)

Time moved on...and money was saved up for an Apexi GT race spec :

I loved the sound of it, just hung really low...

The next mod was wheels, i liked the import 350z wheels but fancied something different. The obvious choice was rota! I really like the GTR's so photoshoped mine with some gold rota GTR's

    Summer then came!

I gave it a full service then it was time for a wash, clay, wax, polish and a few more stickers

and then another photoshop of how i wanted it to look like :

    YannG's USDM - S14a

Time went by and was on the hunt for some rota's or VIP wheels for a long time now...but decided to be different and not get rotas!
Did a bit of research and found these...straight from japan!

    Weds Farmas

    Wheel spec:
    VIP 17" x 8j et5 9j et11 pcd 5x114

Rears were fine, but replaced the fronts with my old " snow" tyres...needed to get new ones for the front!

    Some pictures
(apologies for the quality, thank the Ihpone for that!)

    on the drive home :

then decided to have a go at making a gearstick! so machined this on the lathe:

and this picture is from a night out driving in london:

    i really like that picture
(ps: by that time i had new tyres fitted to the fronts - lower profile ones)

then i was a bit bored of the interior and decided to get a Bride seat along with a driftworks superlow rails ( not in the pictures, as i purchased it a few days later)

THen one night i got a bad puncture on my rear right wheel...so had to fit my diddy donut wheel on:

this was the damn piece of metal that got stuck in my tyre!!!!!!!!!

Snow season came...loved driving in the snow

Whilst browzing on Zilvia, i saw a lot of the s14's had orange front sidemarkers so had to get some as i loved the look of them! Thanks to Clive, i got some within a week and fitted them ASAP...I then also tinted the front sidelights orange. Heatgun/screw-driver and a lot patience and managed to take them apart and paint them

    again...did a few photoshops :

few months down the line and here are some more pictures of her all cleaned and shiny

Then decided i wanted to get a roof spoiler along with some spats, so i did!

Didnt have a spray gun so rattle canned them, but i was pretty happy with the finish!

    Then this happened :

But Thanks to this forum, Got a message from DriftBitz saying they had one for me! So collected that and had it fitted after cleaning up all the glass which took F***ING AGES!...but again BIG THANK YOU DRIFTBITZ (whilst at DriftBitz also bought some Zenki taillights)

Painted the spats next from SRB, again with rattle cans...really pleased with the result:

    before:

and after cutting back the lacquer:

Couple weeks later WLC was on so got invited to join the main car area!

One day my mate mentioned that i should take my spoiler off, so i did and kinda liked it for a while

Then saw a deal i couldnt miss...a zenki rear bumper already in sapphire blue and in good condition...so i had to get it!

Whilst browzing Zilvia.net noticed most of the zenkis out there have rear side-markers...so got a pair of USDM Zenki rear lights shipped over to me...and absolutely LOVE THEM!

Then I decided I wanted more power and bought a front mounted intercooler:

HEre are some pictures of me fitting it! Im hoping it helps whoever needs to see pictures of how they fit!

First step : Remove the Headlights, sidelights, front grill and eventually the front bumper

Now to remove the wing mounted intercooler:

I removed the bumper support bar, cleaned it, rust treated it and gave it a lick of paint:

Now to make a hole in the battery tray using a hole-saw! I'll admit I went a bit overboard and made the hole too big...but hey, im happy! again rust treated the bare metal and gave it a lick of paint. I then got hold of some plastic trim to fit around the edges to protect the piping:

Once the hole is done, start bolting up the core...just not too tight because you will have to move it slightly to get the silicon joiners on!

From there, its pretty much bolt the bits on along with the silicon joiners, being carefull nothing is touching:

I dont know about other people, but i had to trim my bumper slightly to make it fit! I also had to remove my fog lights...

Here is what i did for the lower brackets, its not great but its been fine since ive fitted it and hasnt moved whatsoever!

Back to the piping, make sure everything is tight and secure...this is where i mounted my horns by the way:

again fitted some rubber protective strip to prevent any damage to the pipes!

And then obviously refit the front bumper, headlights, sidelights, front grill...

and some pictures of the job done

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers

    Yann.

few photoshops again...XXR 527's yay or nay?!

And the latest performance modification is the Stage 1a chip!

So now my car is at Stage 1a running around 13-14 psi of boost! Might turn it up
