Its depends on the finish your actually talking about. Matt and Satin are NOT the same thing.

Matt is a bastard to keep looking good. Satin is slightly easier but its not like gloss paint where a coat of polish/wax fixes things up.

The best way to apply satin-effect is with a proper paint first then a satin clearcoat. Or a clear coat with flattening agent mixed in. I think PPG do a satin clearcoat which you can even wax and polish too to keep it nice.

lol.. considering I used to help develop paint for PPG (Birmingham), you'd think I'd be able to give you a definate answer on that! lol (I can't btw)

Not to keen on matt colours, especially matt black. Just looks like you couldn't be arsed to paint a panel, or in this case, the whole car. Matt black for parts that shouldn't really be noticed, putting it on a car makes it look like a cheap project.

As you can't laquer it, how do you protect the paint from the elements?

Finally, as its matt, is it worth getting done professionally or should I just do it myself?

Any advice would be much appreciated
You can get matt lacquer, Just ask the paint shop, it's more on the pricey side too. And that should protect it from the elements. Also, do what you like it's different

    Enkei NT-03's iirc

Several of the GTR owners have them as they are just about the lightest wheel you can get !!

I know a chap who has two sets for his track GTR.

Every now and again they come up and because they are a bit love em or loath em can hang around for a few days if you're lucky.

Failing that ring Mark Gillam at Abbey Motorsport as he used to have a set or two and also ran one of the guys I know who used a set, so may have details of some for ya.

ive painted the roof and boot on my s13 in matt black.

tried the matt/satin lacquer first, but didnt really give the look i was after so i rattle canned it. got a serious finish off it, and it looks class. i suppose with doing just the roof and bootlid, theres not a huge amount of surface area so if it does get very stained its just a matter of scotching it down, masking it up and doing it again. id love to do a whole car in it but id have to do it satin lacquer coz the matt would just get stained so easy.

This is gorgeous, battleship grey and black are so well suited to each other, even if just BG writing on a black car.
Any more pics? Is the bonnet carbon?
